Since I had seen conflicting info regarding Velvet Merkin's release in TX (press release w/o TX on list vs. comment stating that TX was mistakenly omitted), I emailed the brewery to get a "straight from the horse's mouth" kind of answer. For all interested parties, VM will be released in TX, although timing is uncertain. See below email from Erica Nolan, Communications Director for Firestone Walker. Cheers!

    Hi John,
I can confirm that Texas will be receiving Merkin however with shipping and Texas approval laws it will take longer for you to see it on the shelves. We are projecting an end of October timeframe but that is just a guestimate. I can only confirm that beer has been allocated for the state I just cannot give you a solid date on when. If you check our Firestone Finder on our website it will tell you retailers that receive the beer once it has hit the state. I am sorry that I couldn’t be more helpful, we do appreciate your support and thank you for drinking craft beer.

Also, I asked her before posting this in public forum. Didn't want to get her in trouble with the people that sign her paychecks.

I got the same response via Facebook a while back...for whatever reason they left TX off the distro map when they announced the release. Very much looking forward to this one...

There is still some Sucaba and 16th Anniversary at Central Market (Westheimer) in Houston.

Even got my bottle of Parabola signed by their brewmaster Jeffers Richardson!

    Cheers!

Crazy to me that people are passing XVI for the Parabola and Sucaba. Then again I have 2 of each at home and 0 XVI....

Didn't really appeal to me, and I want something with serious shelf life. Plus I'm a stout guy

Wat? Pretty sure XVI can age just as long, if not longer than Parabola

Available isn't really the best word. They have shown up a few different times and locations but definitely not everywhere and not sitting anywhere.

You get a 20% discount with the brewniversary discount as well. Think I paid 16 with tax included.

The 20% discount applies to $25 or more, but I grabbed a bottle of Sucaba and 'Merica for just under $24. Also, thanks for posting that it was available there yesterday. If I hadn't seen your post I would have missed out.

Yeah that deal at Central Market is awesome. i got a Sucaba, FW Porter, and sixer of Zoe for $25. I didn't expect any more of the FW specials to be there today but there was 3 Sucabas left. If anyone needs/wants a Sucaba I have a couple 12s and now a 13. BM with something to trade
