Just wanted to ask a quick question to more experienced beer critics than myself. All year I look forward to getting a case of ST's Pumking, Wyerbacher Imperial Pumpkin Ale, Whole Hog Pumpkin Ale, and so on. I saw that on this website it says that Pumpkin Ales are best served in a Pint glass. However, Pumking, and others are served in a Goblet. Can anyone explain how to determine what glassware I should use with what pumpkin ales. I want to make sure that I am getting the most out of my beer. Thanks in advance.

A tulip, goblet, or snifter are never wrong.

I tend to use a tulip or a snifter for almost all of my beers.

An English pint glass is fine, and I also use my SA Perfect Pour glasses for pumpkins. The thing is that they aren't subtle, so no need to concentrate the nose. A wide open glass is fine. Enjoy. ^^

I've had westvleteren xii out of the westy 12 chalice, a tulip, a snifter, a tumbler (pint glass), and a pilsner glass, and it still tasted like a westy xii. Hope that answers your question.

The sam adams pint glass, the stange, the tulip all work fine. There's always the oversize wine glass and the snifter is all occasion too.

It's already in a glass, just drink it from the bottle. No glass is going to make it taste any better. No need to dork it up.

I drink IPAs out of a Spiegelau glass. Porters, Stouts out of a snifter. Pale Ales and most others out of a New Glarus Nonic glass. I lt doesn't bother me to break this trend, but this is how I prefer with these styles. Canned beers for the most part I'll drink out of a can.

Use a mug even. It's not like there is a 'wrong' answer here

I agree on the tasting better, but beers with subtle fragrance do smell better in the proper glass.
I beg to disagree on drinking from the bottle, it's just uncivilized. We mustn't teach bad habits.

Among pumpkin beers, there is quite a range of styles. The style should dictate the appropriate glass

Been using a goblet for the imperials and a pint glass for the regular pumpkin ales.

The only appropriate vessel is the Elysian mini snifter.

I have not seen that one in stores which is a shame because the shipping cost for their website is insane. I'd go with any goblet you got
