2013 Surly Wet

Just cracked my first one and I'm confused by the backlash. Maybe it's not as great as last years, but it's very good and different. It's nice to try something different! As mentioned above, a Euro IIPA. Whether that's a fair assessment or not, the bottom line is this year's Wet has a unique taste, and I like to try different takes on a style. (loved Stone 17th, the German IPA)

The price makes it a bit hard to consider more than one 4-pack, and it's certainly not worth the price of Abrasive, but I'm glad I got to try it!

 

when were you there? did you have the lady in tow? I recognized someone but could not place.

Now, for like my opinion, man. I like it. I am known for being a hop head, but I enjoy this beer even though I am not punched in the face with hops. It is one of the more well balanced beers that I have tried in a while. Very smooth, great up front taste, very well rounded middle, that finishes very piney and earthy which is what I expected from a wet hopped beer. Now if you want to ear holed by hops, go get a IIPA or a IIIPA. It is not what this beer is supposed to be (still, like my opinion man). But, I drink a lot, and have no idea what the Fuck I am talking about.
cheers, drink it while you can, won't be around as long as it used to be.

 

But I expect to be ear fucked by hops when Im drinking a "West Coast" IPA. Especially a wet hopped one.

I would like to thank Lobo, DoctorRock, and Surlytwinsfan for confirming that there is nothing wrong with this batch. I have enjoyed this barch very much.

 

I hold Surly to an extremely high standard (especially their limited beers), but this batch is a dud. There is nothing wrong with it, but it doesn't taste tropical like years' past.

 

Enjoying a can of that Wet Wet right now thanks to the generous beer dudes at SLP Liquor Barrel. Tastes damn fine to me.

It's really good. I would say if they had to do centennial again, add in another hop like cascade.

All centennial is good but adding another hop variety would have made it better.

 

they shoulda used cascades too.

 

I got neither tar nor turpentine and especially no manure fwiw.

 

Right, I guess Cascade hops would have put this one in another realm.
