Good morning reviewers of rauchbier and critics of CAPs! I hope this message finds you ready for another Sunday of all things good, fermented, malty or hoppy in your yard glass, pokal, or becker today.

Weather in Central OH is decidedly cool and fall-like. Massive downpours on Friday night gave way to crisp and clear brilliant blue fall skies. As predicted, I had my first winter seasonal beer sighting this week. Still glad to see lots of the fall stuff and finally grabbed the SN Beer Camp sampler. I know I'm late to the party on that one but it will make an appearance here later today.

In keeping with our fine tradition, today is the day and this is the thread to share when you have TRIED a new beer (note the past tense in the sentence). In keeping with the unique nature of this thread the RULES of the game are to post your new beer with at least a good description of what you sampled. Feel free to go wacky with a linked review, pic, and/or video to add to the cornucopia of bells and whistles. If there is any question about the guidelines of this forum, sit back, watch the fireworks, and wait to see how the regulars do it. Or, feel free to go back and read any of the 447 weeks of fine NBS offerings.

Thanks for keeping NBS fresh, informative, and fun. Good day and good drinkin'.

    Peace, love, and malty-ness,

    Matt

Cheers to you, Matt, and to the rest of the NBS crew!

It's been a very cool Autumn so far(not cool as in temp wise but nice mild temps for the season so that makes it cool) and I opened and am almost finished with a new brew to me from Gigantic Brewing. My review:

    http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/29003/81993/?ba=Bitterbill

It is not a terribly exciting brew but they can't all be. Worthy of a try, me reckons.

    Hello, folks...

Early start with a dull, grey, post-rainy day...

    The Autumn Equinox is today!

My beer has feathers on it.
Kentucky Ryed Chiquen from Against the Grain Brewing.
    It poured just fine, though.
From what I read: Maris Otter, German rye and caramel rye malts; English Nugget and Kent Goldings hops. House ale yeast. Aged in Redemption Rye rye whiskey barrels.
In a pint, it reminded me of an old ale - like an amber take on Fullers Vintage Ale. It was definitely better in the pint. I'm sure that's ridiculous, but that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
Maybe it's because of what I did with these ^
    [IMG]
Because I will snack. Let's call it breakfast.

    Cheers!

    ***New American Double/Imperial IPA Sunday!!!

My review, instead of my link to my review:

Bottle purchased from Bring on the Beer.

I didn't hear a hiss when I popped the cap but with the pour, a deep gold with a 1 finger head of foam, my worries got the hell out of Dodge. Another brew here with fine lacing. It looks great.

Bready malt, caramel malt, dominate the nose. Oh shoot, this bottle has already been aged for me. Bottled on May 10th. I guess that explains the lack of any hoppy aromas.

At this stage, it is more of an all malt DIPA and it tastes great! Lots of freshly baked bread like flavour, some caramel sweetness, no hint...zero bitterness and quite the hunk of alcohol heat. It makes me curious as to what a bit of hop bitterness would have been like in a fresh bottle but being only 4 months old, I'd reckon it couldn't have been too big and bold. The flavours are now starting to wear on me. Great, sadly, has become okay.

Great mouthfeel and there's now some sort of bitterness going on, I'd say a bit of roughish pine. I've had a few Drake beers and this is most likely my least favourite. Yes, it is. Oh well, the others I've had were top notch.

Happy new Beer Sunday everyone  Looks like fall is really here. The yard is strewn with a few leaves and the trees out back are about to sport their brilliant autumnal fire. I love to cook and bake in the fall and I have a banana bread planned for tomorrow.

Today I reviewed Middle Ages Dragonslayer. The body of this beer is full and smooth and the hop presence is unusually strong. It grew on me though. The roasted character is bold and dominant in the drink and not for the weak. This is not a terribly sweet beer. The sweetness it has though is ample to excite the nose. The bitter it has is sufficient to provoke the palate. It is as though they set out to tempt and then slay you.

So I love the ghost story and the tale of the supernatural especially in the fall. I like to start every fall with a re read. This fall it's John Gardener. A local for sure. So if I was going to write a fall ghost story it would start like this -

"As I inch backward in my chair and put my feet on the desk, I realize that what I want, and desperately , is to tell some kind of story. A story that brings my soul into an original context. Something that makes my self love seem justified. For now I can only plan a few auspicious moments. People throughout the ages have thought that the ability to discern spirits could make one transcendent. I have been having this dream where a bird asks me what religion I am. I always answer the same thing - "Pedestrian" and the bird always laughs and lets me pass. "

Mmmm can't say I want to try this beer based on your review of it. Plus, we don't get Drakes here. I did like Aroma Coma and Denogginizer fresh some thoughtful folks shared with me, though, but I love a beer that is a good slap to the palate.

    Which one did you consume?

Greetings my fellow NBSers. This will be quick, because my GB Packers are now playing. Got this Trippel from an IP trade. One of the better I have had. Massive sweet citrus and tropical notes. It is a nice beer to be drinking today. My review is up. Cheers everyone and have a great day!

    Greetings fellow NBSer's,
Glorious day in SCMN and still only hints of the impending winter, much less any autumn. Very few color changes yet, no frost in these parts and still consistently nice weather. The fading of the garden, the plethora of apples ready to pick and eat and the 3rd game of NFL assure me, though, of what season we in fact are in.

Wisconsin born beer today. I've had a stronger yearning for hops lately and this is meets that desire.

    NEW ALTBIER SUNDAY

Greeting from PA Dutch country everyone. After a sunny morning the breeze brought some dark clouds and parked them directly over my back porch. Still a nice chance for some lazy reading time while Mini-Me sleeps. As soon as he's up we are off for a walk in the baby bjorn. He is such a cute little bugger.

I don't drink much altbier but this one is scratching an itch I didn't know I had.

Greetings fellow NBSers! Not sure I'm going to get a new brew in today, but wanted to say Hi! It's Bellingham Beer Week here in the Fourth Corner, with a lot of events going on. I had 2 really fine beers earlier this week, brewed just for BBW, a collaboration between the 3 breweries here in town (Boundary Bay, Chuckanut, Kulshan), a very tasty BSDA, available in cans and on tap. Also,Fremont Brewing from Seattle brewed a Coconut Vanilla Coffee Porter that is nearly perfect, and I HATE coffee. The Bite of Bellingham is going on today, and I did some set up work earlier, and have to do some tear down later. I'm going to have some beer and food in between. Happy NBS and Cheers everyone!

Howdy, y'all. I'm drinkin sumpin called Redds Strawberry Ale this morning. Yes, friends brought it over last night. It says "ale" on the label, so it must be beer. I don't like this stuff. It's kinda weird. It tastes like a berry soda pop, with a little alcohol bite. I'm not much into these things, but I'll try anything once. Anyways, weather here is absolutely gorgeous and I cannot complain. The redeeming quality to this "Strawberry Ale" is that it is thirst quenching, and does not leave a nasty after taste. I didn't see much strawberry in it, tho'.

This week found me in Chicago, where I realized that I was only a short, 1-hour drive down to Munster, IN for my first experience with the boys at Three Floyds. What a cool brewery! I was able to bring back 6 bombers and a 6 pack, of which included my first Dreadnaught...

Another "heavy metal" quality beer from 3Floyds: Complex, high-quality, and pushing the envelope of decency: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/26/1558/?ba=BeerImmediately

I've got this delicious beer lined up here. Blondie from The North Brewery.

One of the best IPAs I've had in a while. Review linked here. I'm loving this new brewery; wish I knew about it sooner!

    New England Hoppy Red Sunday:grinning:

Maine Beer Co.'s Zoe...A hoppy (they add "happy") red ale. Liked this one a lot. Nice mouth feel, hoppy, clean. Quite pleasing. Hopefully one day I'll get that far east and north.

    Happy New Beer Sunday everyone!

Discovered a solid brew from the UK.
Brodies Hackney Red IPA, which is their take on a west coast IPA. It may pale in comparison to many hop forward beers brewed here in the US, but this is one solid Citra Red IPA.

The hand pump only made this one that more enjoyable and fitting for its origin.
Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their day.
    Cheers!
