Upland Sours Release / Lottery Oct 1 - 8th

    Bloomington, IN (September 24, 2013) - One week from today, Upland Brewing Company will open an online lottery for the release of three of its renowned sour ales: Kiwi, Strawberry, and Blackberry fruited Lambic-style ales.Due to labor intensiveness, a long brewing process, and the seasonal availability of local fruit, these ales are released infrequently and in limited quantities. Consequently, lottery requests will be restricted to one bottle per person.

    The lottery, at www.UplandSours.eventbrite.com, will open at noon EDT on Tuesday October 1st and close at noon October 8th. Preferred pick-up location must be specified at the time of entry; both the Brew Pub in Bloomington and the Indianapolis Tasting Room are options.

    Lottery winners will be notified via email on October 9th and will have the opportunity to purchase the sour ale they selected at their preferred location from October 22nd through November 5th. After the two-week reservation pick-up period, any remaining sour ales will be sold first come first served.

    Instead of fighting for who has the fastest trigger finger and the best internet connection at work, looks like the fruit sours are following suit with gilgamesh & Sour Reserve. So it will depend on who can amass the most emails/friends/family to enter. I know my wife (aka hinnie) & I will both be entering. It also looks like its one bottle per person so hopefully everyone wins and we can have a killer bottle share (we don't just hoard, do we?).

    Can one trustee this? The site says 'bring an original or photocopied ID' - does that mean I can photocopy an ID and give it to a trustee?

    They should force paid e-mail addresses only, and whoever wins the lottery must show up in person with photo ID, no mules.

    I agree with you, I mean every other brewery that does big lotteries or sells the ticket to buy bottles makes the actual fella or lady show up to pick-up.

    Agreed, I played fair last time around and entered one time and got shut out and I am local. It does suck that people who have never even opened a wheat or BE porter have the same chance as someone who has bought cases of the beers that keep their doors open.

    <broken record> they need to do these like Alesmith, Lost Abbey, etc does and force the actual person to pick up their order

    agreed with above. they also need to base who gets the beer on diligence instead of random luck of someones cousins boyfriends sisters girlfriends third aunt twice removed. i propose a system like catador, using email and needing to be press submit right at the proper time.
