i would happily toss in some bucks to help get a quality venue for this if we can't do it at heineman/breakroom anymore. especially if it's easier for me to get home from. every time i've gone to one of these i've had a great experience (with the exception of the hangovers i have the next morning) and met some cool peeps.

all in all i think the last one i attended there were around 40-50, but i think others would have better idea of the numbers.

I think 40-50 was about right over the course of the evening. You can count me in for 20 dollars on a venue rented. I find it hard to believe itd really cost thaaat much for a venue rented for a few hours. 2-300 hundred or so? Even if 20 people show up, thats only 10-15 a person

I'm not certain just how scientific this sampling is, but by all means count me in on the "willing to kick in $20 to make it happen crowd." Agree with the 40-50 number. Not sure how much it would take to rent a place, but I'd prioritize something close to a CTA stop and a MINIMUM of 4 hours. (The last one went, what, 7?)

What are some places in the city that would even host a bottle share? There aren't any loft spaces that come to mind. Maybe some new breweries like off color would let us use their space?

If everyone was willing to do a weeknight, maybe the upstairs space at revolution?

Would Bridgeview be too far out of the way to host this? I have a friend who runs a place there that could conceivably host it.

Just out of curiousity, when you guys pop a baller beer are you sharing among 40ish people? Our tasting club had a little over 20 and I worry that I am not giving everyone big enough pours.

Any advice on what you really like or dislike about your events? I'd really like to keep making ours better

Evolution in Lakeview hosts events. Also fischmans in Jefferson park might be an option.

Freddy at capone's might host also.

I've talked to a few people about doing this since we opened. If there's interest in doing a test run let me know. It would have to be an after hours event though, since I'd want this to be a true bottle share, not a "come buy beer from me then let me drink it too" thing. Plus then I can set up the store for a bottle share.

Let me restate this: I've always wanted to have bottle shares at the store (or be associated with them in some way). I think bottle shares are one of the best things about the current beer scene. There are so many great beers out there and they need to be drunk - ideally in a social setting. Thus the reason I share beers pretty much every day at the store, and also the sentiment behind me opening up my cellar for the grand opening - which in turn became a bottle share. So if there's a need for a semi-regular bottle share and I can be of service let me know. If it's doable, I'll make it happen.

I think your place would be very well suited (especially since I could practically stumble home from there).

I'm another newbie that would like to attend.

Here is my non-complete cellar. I have some verticals that I'd like to share.

Ok, looks like there's some interest. I'll throw some ideas out and see what sticks.

Oh, and no matter what happens, I can guarantee no newbs will be setting their feet in my store.

The Beer Temple is a very good venue for me.
But I think I should relate that River North Distributing has been hosting new breweries' (to Chicago) introduction events at venues which you would not suspect had BYOB licenses. The one for 3 Sheeps was @ the Little Beans Café on west Webster Ave., and an upcoming one for Upland Brwg. shall be @ Heritage Bicycles on north Lincoln Ave. At Little Beans, there was definitely more than 50 people in attendance. I must deduce River North has more funding than a consortium of craft beer aficionados, but this should be a tipoff that we should contemplate venues which do not purvey licensed beverages.
