    Happy Birthday Sunday!!
Twenty - Anniversary Ale by Avery Brewing

First off I want to start by saying happy birthday! to our gracious host, Mr. Crill. Thank you for inspiring us and helping foster this little community. Welcome to your forties, hope the coming decade is full of good beers and better times.

As a happy coincidence, I happened to pick up a bottle of a birthday beer for this weekend's new entry. Though only half your age, Avery brewing has repeatedly shown themselves to be talented brewers putting out consistent quality product. I was a little wary of this one, since it was released in May, and as anyone who has perused the boards here has learned, if you're drinking an IPA any older than about a week, you're just wasting your time. Ultimately, though, I figured this particular beer will never be released again, and I have heard countless good things on this here site about it, so for 7 bucks I was willing to take a chance. Damn am I glad I did. This beer exceeded even my best expectations for it. Juicy, with the balance of a tightrope walker, I am extremely glad I grabbed this one. If it's still on the shelves where you are and you've not tried it, I highly recommend grabbing a bottle and sampling it for yourself.

We're starting to edge more and more into autumn here in Saint Louis, though it is sunny out now, it was raining all morning, and even when clear the temperature is topping out at 80 instead of 90. Personally, I'm all for it. I love autumn: it's easily my favourite season for many reasons. I love the rain and the more temperate weather; it's what I grew up with back on the west coast (as was pointed out to me in an unrelated thread yesterday, I've been away for far too long. The Seahawks game was looking like we were headed for our first loss (thanks injury-ravaged o-line!!), but somehow we pulled it out. I had another spoke break on my bike, so now I need to buy a spoke wrench and some replacement spokes. AWESOME. Now it's back to studying for this stupid med/surg test tomorrow.
Hope everyone is enjoying themselves, and happy sunday!!

First off, Happy 40th Matt! 40 is the new 20, so keep all this drinkin' stuff under wraps, OK?
Got this puppy a couple weeks ago during my first visit to 3 Floyds. Not bad, and like many Saisons, it has its interesting moments... Full review here: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/26/98444/?ba=BeerImmediately
Now back to watching my Iggles try to hang with those Broncos. (might need a couple more beverages)

Happy Birthday Matt, and greetings to all my fellow NBS friends!

Great weekend so far, and I'm not dreading the work week a ton, because I've got the Saints to look forward to tomorrow evening (also Breaking Bad tonight) and it is also a four day week for me!

Anyway, we finally got EnjoyBy down here in Louisiana, and I cracked my first bottle Thursday evening. It was so good I had to have another today, and write a proper review:

One of the best I've had in a while. Taking a breather for a while, but I will be back with more new hoppy goodness this evening! Cheers!

New DIPA Sunday here at the Jersey Shore!

Wow, what a great day. Beautiful blue skies, sunshine, temp around 72 degrees, light breeze. In fact, the entire month of September has been nothing but beautiful weather around here.
I was looking forward to a beer after golf today, and figured that I'd better drink this FFF offering before it's too late:
http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/26/46080/?ba=NiceTaps. It was not too late, fresh and very hoppy.

Sadly, that's the pool cover seen in the background of this view from my outdoor bar. Summer's gone.
There are great posts and reviews today, good reading.
Happy B'day, Matt. Thanks for NBS.

All the best to the NBS group. Cheers!!

It's a gorgeous Fall day here in Chicago. Sunny, crisp and in the high 60s. I'm just happy to be outside grilling dinner for the family & getting to try a new local DIPA. Have a great Sunday night! And Happy Birthday, Matt! 40 really is definitely the new 30. Only we tend to have more money now.

    >>>>>> New Pumpkin Ale Sunday <<<<<<

Happy 40th Matt and happy NBS to all.

Fall is in full swing here as well, although we don't have the colors yet as we are still awaiting our first frost. It's about 3 weeks late.

Today is Pumpkick a Pumpkin Ale from New Belgium. It's just average I'm afraid. I probably won't have this again.

A cool and rainy weekend here in eastern Washington. Took a trip up to Leavenworth yesterday a week ahead of their annual Oktoberfest. It was bit soggy, but we found some nice beer and schnitzle.

Wild finish for the Seahawks in Houston today. A win is a win, they are 4-0 so who's complaining? Besides the people in Houston? ;-)

    Happy Trails!

So my chili turned out really well! I even BBQ'd some chicken on the grill tonight. Now onto a style of beer I am really a neophyte of, barleywine. This 2012 Bigfoot still has a huge bitter hop presence and is still quite boozy. It is great to sip on this evening. I hope you all had a terrific Sunday. See you again next week!

I bought this bottle back in March at a charity auction. I told myself then that I was only going to allow myself a 2 oz pour once a year on my birthday. Well, that day is today. I am enjoying my first taste of this 'beer' and must say it is everything it is cracked up to be. Not sure that it's worth the crazy steep price, but it is certainly one of the most uniquely intriguing flavor experiences I've had.

First time poster on this thread. I've been a big fan of NBS since I joined the Beer Advocate community. I felt that I should wait until I get something special before I made my first appearance here, and I thought I had it.
Even though it was a slight disappointment, I can't say it wasn't enjoyable.

    New Oktoberfest

I don't know if fall gets any better than this. Clear skies and temps hovering around 70 during the day. Crisp evenings.

My parents were in town for high school football, youth soccer, a local Oktoberfest celebration, and Art Prize this weekend. Not a bad way to spend a few days off with the family.

Working my way through a sixer of this one. The crisp, hoppier versions of O'fests are growing on me. Maybe it's the warmer weather helping to give them the nod over their maltier counterparts. Whatever it is, I could put a few more of these back tonight.

Greetings fellow NBSers! A late entry for me today. I helped one of my local breweries set up the beer garden at the finish line party of the Bellingham Marathon today, and just as I was going to settle in for an afternoon of NBSing, I got a call from a friend who needed a hand shoveling some dirt at his house. 6 hours later, here I am.

Today is the last day of Bellingham Beer Week for this year, and it was a fun 9 days. Lots of fun events (Chicken Shit Bingo, a beer can derby, and Barleywood Squares to name a few) and plenty of new and rare(ish) brews. My first entry is a very nice Berliner Weisse from one of PDX's more popular small breweries: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/16289/100033 . There's a couple more new brews up on the board, so I'll be doing a LNNBSA thing for a bit.

Thanks to walderek, I got to try Weez from Maine Brewing Co. Quite good. Dark Sschwarz style, yet hoppy. Beautiful cascade with a slightly vigorous pour.

Had 3 new beers tonight (no pics sorry).

    1. Cuvée Des Jacobins Rouge - very tart with a nice cherry flavor to it, perhaps a tad bit more sour than expected.
    2. Oude Kriek (3 Fonteinen) - a little sweeter than the previous but this got to be a little hard to drink after awhile. Split this with one other person and afterwards I was honestly a bit soured out. Decent but not worth the price I paid.
    3. Bo and Luke (Against the Grain) - A wonderful chocolatey imperial stout to cleanse my palate this was just what the doctor ordered. Haven't had much from Against the Grain, but this beer made me stand up and take notice. Ventured out of my comfort zone a bit tonight and overall I'm pleased with the results.
