Drinking a Founders All Day and I started thinking, I would probably rather drink a BMC lager. I understand the reason behind a very low gravity IPA/Pale, but some of these are just plain boring and the hops are so meh. Anyone agree?

I agree, IPA lights don't do much for me either.

I really like Lagunitas DayTime, probably the only one I've been able to get into.

I wouldn't go that far, but I wasn't as enamored with it by the end of the sixer as I was in the beginning- very one note. There are plenty of other ales and lagers that I could go all day with instead.

I'd rather drink an All Day IPA or DayTime IPA over half of the IPAs found on the shelves..

I get what you're saying but Founders All Day in cans is really refreshing. No way would I rather drink a Bud than that!

All Day IPA just tastes like your average pale ale to me.
    Daytime, however, was great.

Some brews shouldn't be short cut or abbreviated, IPA's is one. Yes, you can decrease the malt to lower the ABV, but then it's just bitter, and bitter is no trick. And bitter alone doesn't an IPA make, without enough of a malt backbone it's just not satisfying, and or is painful to drink. Foothills made a Baby Jade, a batch brewed with less malt because they forgot to add enough malt. So instead of dumping it, baby Jade was born and it was a terribly bitter mess with a low ABV, under 4% if I'm not mistaken, but undrinkable..

I don't think so, PA's are balanced, and most Session IPA's are just weird. All Day isn't weird, it's just not quite right. Lawsons Session IPA wasn't all that good either as a comparison.

Hardly. I can name oodles of Pale Ales that taste better than session IPAs.

I agree. I guess what i'm trying to say is that it's kind of a silly style. Why not just do it right and have a pale ale?

Man I love fresh All Day. Every bottle I've drank has had a great hop profile that I only wish I could find in other regular IPAs, let alone pale ales.

That was merely an exaggeration. Piss on BMC.

I enjoy them, but I wish we would see this session approach applied to other styles. I had a mild at a beer festival this past weekend that blew me away, and it was only 3.4 percent. Granted, that's a style that is inherently sessionable, but I'd love to see more porters, stouts and dare I saw Rauchbiers in that range.

I thought all day ipa accomplished what it attempted . Duclaw oz fractional ipa is just as good if not better.

Carton Boat smells and tastes exactly like a higher gravity IPA but without the knockout blow of one. I must've had 5-6 of them at a beer fest I was at this last weekend to try to slow down after the 10%+ quads.

I was in DC with my wife visiting my brother-in-law earlier in the summer and we picked up beer to drink before a Nationals game. He drinks nothing but Bud and my wife drinks Coors Light. So, we stopped at a beverage store and I picked up a six pack of All Day IPA. After my third one, I found it hard to stomach. I managed to choke down the last few, but I actually found myself craving a Coors Light...which was counterproductive as that's what I was trying to avoid in the first place. Maybe I just needed water (Coors, water...close enough) but it was not what I expected. Perhaps it wasn't fresh. Don't get me wrong, I love a good IPA, but that stuff was bitter. And I certainly couldn't have sat there and drank a sixer of Torpedo or Flower Power in a two hour span. I would have never made it to the game...
