I am heading to Boston for business the week of 10/14 and thought it would be the perfect time to swing by HF the Saturday before - Only bad thing is that they are cleaned out of bottles now, I assume b/c of the release last weekend. I called the brewery and they said they have no clue when bottles would be replenished. I was looking to grab bottles of usual suspects, nothing rare, obviously.... Any advice on bottle shops that might have some in the area? Or, does someone know how long it usually takes them to recover from a release???? Any help would be great, thanks all!!!
They're only doing silent releases for the time being. Flora Satsuma was on the shelf yesterday (it wasn't noted on their website but confirmed by some BAers here). You can't buy HF bottles anywhere else, unfortunately. As for the "usual suspects", there really aren't any bottles that HF regularly had on the shelf most times. You might be able to make a case for Arthur and Everett, which get released a few times a year in bottles, but for the most part you live and die by whatever Shaun decides to release that week. Luckily, the stuff they have for growler fill more than makes up for lack of bottles. Good luck!
Thanks! I guess by "usual suspects" I was referring to the bottles that they had listed on their website which have been there (pre-last saturday) for a few weeks. Part of the attraction to driving up there was to be able to bring some bottles home, hopefully I will get lucky!
Even if you don't get what you are looking for, it is a really nice drive this time of year. So, silver lining!
I think they sold out of Sankt Hans, but if you're looking for some, I have some extra bottles I could help you out with. Could probably spare 2. BM me.
just to clarify I am very excited to be going there and getting growler fills - was just trying to get advice on there bottle availability and methodology around it, if any. if you can lend advice around bottles, please do. if not, please dont post.
I agree, very pumped to go - fitting in some kayaking as well while I am up there, scenery should be beautiful!
FWIW, there was some bottles of Artic Saison at Willey's store 5 min from HF on september 26th. I can't say if there is anything left though.
Willey's, awesome. I heard great things about that store - local meats/cheeses etc. I was planning on stopping by there to pick up some food, so that is great to know. Thanks!!!!
Definitely - I actually hope to make the drive up soon. Beer and foliage, a nice combo. If you see Arctic Saision, I say get it. I got one bottle on my last trip to HF and regret not getting more. It is so funky and delicious.
Unfortunately there isn't much in the way of strategy or advice to be given. They have stopped posting (at least for the moment) their available bottles on the site (http://www.hillfarmstead.com/retail/) so it is pretty much a crap shoot as to what bottles (if any) will be available at a given time. As others have said bring more cash than you think you'll need. To minimize any wait either go early (11:30am arrival) or late (after 4pm). If you are going to be in the Burlington area at all Pearl St. Beverage downtown has plenty of Arctic Saison, and they may still have some Grassroots Wheat is the new hops.
