I may be too new, but is it common for someone to offer up a trade and then at the last minute tell you that they don't have the beer, but they SHOULD be able to acquire it soon?

Common sense tells me that you should have the beer in your possession before you agree to a trade. I wasted a few days and turned down others because of this person. I'm not mad, but it is frustrating.

It may seem obvious, but maybe this should be added to the Tips portion of the Trading Rules.

I believe Paul Simon said it best.

Just slip out the back, Jack. Make a new plan, Stan. Don't need to be coy, Roy...

The sad part is that this person has done as many or more trades that I have. I have mostly done IP trades and only a handful of shipping trades.

Suggesting that you could have a beer before finalizing any trade is one thing. Finalizing the trade and then claiming that you don't have the beer is another.

You did the right thing. People shouldn't commit to a trade with beer they don't actually know they can get. Thats how Bad Trader threads come about

the only people i would even consider this type of trade with are previous trade partners and generally only in pretrade or trade-mule type situations. "i don't have it but i can trade for it" generally means a trade is about to be wrought with peril outside of someone i trust a lot.
