Ha ha ha, totally reasonable. It's sad to think that people use this site for shit like that.

You should've bartered. I'm trying to think of an outrageous counteroffer, but my brain can't get past Pliny for $30.

Being in Rhode Island I could send him our famous "coffee milk," which is just milk with a sugary-coffee flavored syrup mixed in. I thought I would ask $45 for it. Seems on par with his offer.

    Oh god, coffee milk...

Anyway, if you want some Pliny try offering some Cisco sours or Gandhi-bot, either of those ought to get it done and I don't think would be too hard (might be wrong). I know I was able to get a bunch of the Cisco stuff when I stopped by Yankee Spirits last xmas.

$4.99 - brewery price and decent - sometimes cheaper elsewhere

$5.99 - starting to piss me off

    $6.99 and up - ripoff.

Where have you seen it for less than $4.99? That's got to be selling at virtually no margin! I think up to $6 is totally reasonable, especially because that's usually the price I see at bars that sell to-go bottles (they don't mark it up further for on-premise).

Me: nowhere. Saw someone on BA post it....

I can't believe someone is seriously trying to sell PtE for $30.

Providence if you're looking for PtE, I can hook you up. Send me a shipping label and I'll ship you a fresh bottle for free. Seeing someone trying to rip people off for a fantastic brew is just sickening....

Where are you? Around the Bay Area $4.99 is the bar price (or, at least, that's the price at RR and Beer Rev, the only bars I'd bother to buy it at), $4.50 is the grocery store price (or the Whole Foods price), and $4 is the dirt-cheap Bottle Barn price.

Now this is what BA is all about, good on you Rinkor16! Beer is about sharing and enjoying and spreading good vibes... Enjoy~

Doesn't Beer Rev charge corkage for on-premise consumption?

Edited to add: I'm a bad person to ask -- Pliny's on draft everywhere for virtually the same price, so I don't tend to buy bottles.

They do, but that's pretty irrelevant when we're talking about the to-go price. Regardless, my general point is "lots of places sell Pliny for <=$5."

I traded $4$ for Pliny at $7 according to my trading partner. I totally believe him, but sounds like his shop was not the greatest. Also in LA, stuff is probably marked up a little bit. $30 is pretty hilarious though, and saying you bought it for $20. Psh.

Just want to say thanks to everyone who understands what this site is ACTUALLY about (cough, cough, not ripping people off!). I have had trade offers, offers of people to sell me Pliny at cost, offers of people to send me Pliny for free. It's amazingly generous and I am happy to be a part of the community. I will definitely be paying this good karma forward!

$6.99 per bottle is a reality. Here in San Diego my closest shop has it at that price. I could drive 10 miles for $5.99, or 20 miles for $4.99 but then you have time, gas etc. Limit 2 - so usually just pay the $6.99. Driving 40 miles round trip to save $4 is obviously not worth it.

Was around $4.55 here in OR at belmont station not long ago, but IIRC price went up to 4.99 recently.

    A few things:

#1 I am by no means a scammer, and I did not realized the price is unreasonable.

#2 I guess I got ripped off in the first place by overpaying, I was just really excited to get Pliny as i've never had and thought I might never have it without overpaying being 3000 miles.

#3 I don't have much of it so yes I was trying to make a small profit in return for giving up a couple of my prized bottles.

Lastly, I apologize for the overpricing and sorry if I offended you by making the offer. I don't appreciate being made to look like a scammer as it was an honest mistake with no malicious intent. A private message along the lines of "this is frowned upon and/or is way too expensive, you got ripped off etc etc" would have been more appropriate and appreciated.

But whatever, what's done is done. Sorry...don't hate me.

    Lock it up.

Did you honestly believe Pliny was going for anywhere near $30 per bottle or was that misrepresented?

OP said you had a case of it.... how much did you pay for that case???
I'd call out the place you got it from if you paid even $20 a bottle.
