Velvet Merkin in Boston?

my local shop said something about label approval slowing things up and it won't hit until november

 

I was wondering if it had something to do with that - the gov't shutdown and all.

 

My bottle shop owner said today that FW rep told him November as well.

 

Not sure these comments add up....if it is being sold anywhere, then TTB delay can't be the issue. Might be a state of Massachusetts label delay.

 

Can anyone with label approval knowledge explain why it takes the state more than 10 minutes to inspect the label and approve it?

 

It's Massachusetts...we could fuck up a glass of water.

 

There are no label requirements in MA other than being able to pass TTB approval. In fact, the ABCC doesn't even review labels which makes MA one of the easier states to sell beer in. I know, I know, I was just as shocked as you all probably are when I learned this.

 

FW stuff just takes FOREVER to get to MA. No idea why

 

I heard the Midwesterners like to hold up trucks delivering Cali beer in an attempt to sway people away from it

Heard a nasty rumor today that MA wasn't getting any. I'm hoping this is an attempt to lower expectations on quantity so that any amount will be seen as a bonus.

 

Parabola/Sucaba show up in MA ~40 days after they do on the left coast

 

I found a single bottle in Haverhill two days ago. Needless to say, I bought it and added it to my Sucaba and DDBA. I was not able to find any 2013 parabola this year. If anyone has a 2013 parabola (in box) they'd like to trade, I'll make it worth your while.

 

One Stop and Andover Liquors each got 3 bottles each, or so I'm told (all gone.) I wouldn't be terribly surprised if Redstone does something on Black Friday with their allocation.

 

I've called and visited a few places and the story I've got is either "not in yet" or "we don't know" so I have the feeling I won't be seeing it. The impression I've got is that FW was a little sheisty with this one

 

Yeah it showed up a few weeks back when I grabbed one, the allotments seemed very low. Doesnt even compare to Parabola though so it wouldnt be something I would try that hard to snag again

 

I may have hate tweeted Firestone Walker for everyone.

 

So my main place hasn't gotten it in. My side place, told me I wasn't on the list and they were very sorry and they only got 6 bottles. I was like ya well fine, make sure I'm on the list for XVII then. And they lied to me and took my name and phone number, ha. We'll see how that goes.
