Consumption aside, who here finds themselves buying more beer than they can possibly consume in a reasonable amount of time? I know a vast majority will end up aging beers too but I find myself even buying way too many beers that run the risk of losing freshness before I will be able to drink them. With all the constant new limited runs/seasonals, it seems that I'm always buying something new coming out and some older things get pushed aside. Surely I can't be the only one. I did a beer inventory today and I have about 200 beer bottles currently on hand!

Damn that's helluva a lot of beer dude! You're good to drink for at least a month or two. I do know what you're saying though. If I made more money I would probably be in the same situation. Most of my discretionary spending goes to trying new beers. Cheers!

Glad I'm the only one man. I'm a total sucker for the new six pack, only to have a couple and push it back with a new 6 pack. Tailgating season is a good time to clean my fridge out!

Wow..I thought I was the only one who got a "rush" every time I walked into a store to see what new beers they had:wink:

I'm guilty of that. Sometimes I like buying the beer as much as I like drinking it.

I did that for years and then decided I'd rather spend my money on brewing equipment and learn how to make my own beer. The key to breaking a habit is replacing it with another one

I was at one point, but now it's at a much more manageable level.

Granted like 80 of them are specifically for aging but I have way more ipa, dipas and the likes on hand than I can realistically drink before the beer changes. I may have to start using the beer for barter, lol. I only drink like 1-2 beers a day 4-5 times a week but just seem to have the urge to but more than I actually drink.

I find I mostly want to buy beers when I travel to bring home for me and my friends to enjoy. It's kind of a badge of honor and boosts the ego when you bring home a home run (bragging rights for the night!). We are constantly trying to one up each other...makes for some pretty damn good beer nights, that's for sure. I have plenty in my garage refrigerator just waiting for the "right" occasion. Moral: Find friends that like good/great beers who enjoy sharing and a bit of competition. It's a win/win!

Hi, my name is Ray, and I'm addicted to buying beer.

I feel your pain. I have been on the beer scene for about a year and, just like with cigars/wine, I find just as much pleasure in hunting for beer, as I do drinking it. I need to start buying less and drinking more, but it's easier said than done. Although, I have been doing better these last few weeks. I'm currently at 260+ bottles. Anyone want to come over and help me reduce inventory?

If one is fairly young and compiles a collection, the threat is that the collection can become a shrine, then a mausoleum. With years, cellars of wine and beer disappear magically, if you are blessed with family and friends.

The only thing keeping me from buying "too much beer" at this point is my apartment size. If I had more space, you better believe I'd fill it with more beer

I do this too but only have 2 friends into craft beer like I am. One dude gave me some furniture from his house since he is getting new and gave him a nice assortment as a thank you. He is now looking at more stuff in his house he can give me.

You are not the only one I check the store and buy beer every time I go. I have had a new beer practically every day for the past 259 days. =)

I am the same way man. I have a good 50 or so bottles myself. I just love buying (and drinking) imperial stouts and barleywines and trading for things I can't get. With stout season approaching...it's gonna be crazy.

If there's any advice I could give both of us, it would be to be very selective with what you buy.
