You belong in Houston, Texas... where apparently 100% of the craft beer drinkers have this issue. Rapidly spreading due northwest to Austin. Ack!

There are many times I walk into a store thinking, "You don't need more beer.. You don't need more beer.. You don't need more beer.." But its worse when I'm sitting home bored out of my mind and knowing that the immediate remedy would be a run to the beer store.

I buy 3-4 six/four packs a week. I drink about 14 beers a week. So purchase more than I drink.

I need a new job so the liquor store isn't on my way home...
As soon as I walk in, the guy behind the counter is telling me about all the new stuff in.

If I made more money, I would have a nice stock pile. I agree with everyone on the thread that buying new beers can be a massive rush. I only drink a few on weekends and my apartment is too small to really store anything anywhere. Some day, I'll have an extensive inventory.

It seems like every week there is something new showing up that I want to try. It also doesn't help that seasonal stuff starts showing up way too soon.

My girlfriend always complains how there's no room in the fridge for food. I actually put a pretty big dent in the amount of beer in there last month, but then I ended up going to NH and MA two weeks in a row and came back with a bunch of stuff I can't get here; and FBS shows up here and I had to have a case of that. So I'm right back to a full fridge.

I'm taking a break right now until my tennis league season is over, so I probably won't touch a beer for another 3 months and I'm still buying beers all the time. Stuff that can age, of course. So, even without consuming the beers themselves for the time being, I'm still addicted to buying them.

Yes and no. I'm pretty conscious of not buying a ton of IPAs or things where freshness really matters all at once. That said, I do overbuy things that age well (stouts, sours, barleywines, etc.) for the cellar, and I end up with a whole bunch of boxes full of stuff that I would never open myself. So, I try to bring bottles to as many tastings as I can, but even so, I buy faster than I consume, and I'm running out of space.

...an obvious solution is a blow-out tasting event over the holidays of course. Which is definitely happening

i was really bad for a while. lately i'm trying to drink down my "cellar". which is easier now that i'm more in the mood for imp stouts, barleywines. if i had a genuine cellar or good basement i wouldn't feel as bad hoarding beer, but i don't want my stash to get too much bigger than it is

i have this idea of getting back to a completely slate again and then just buying beer as i want to drink it. pipe dream?

I used to cellar stuff but after years of drinking craft beer I prefer to drink and procure fresh beer.

I also have 200+ bottles in my beer cellar. I have stopped buying beer and started drinking what I have. At first I was going to age it all, then I realized I had a lot of awesome beer just sitting there. I decided to start drinking it instead.

I don't think of this as a problem, more of a hobby. Some friends have woodworking shops in their basement or auto shops in their garage. I have a beer cellar. What's wrong with that? Embrace it.

500+. I don't hoard. I just buy more than I can drink. It doesn't take long to build up. If you buy just one more beer than you drink every week, in five years you have 260 beers in storage. Quarterly tastings with friends doesn't seem to reduce the inventory - everyone wants to drink the high ABV bombers/750's. No problem there, but how many bombers of 10%+ ABV beers can 4-5 guys finish in an evening? Maybe 10?

It is a first world problem, for sure.

Even when I was spending $20 a day at beer stores, I would still have to go to the beer store everyday.

Beer I buy at a store has 0% chance of lasting more than a week - unless I bought a 12 pack that I didn't like all that much.

I do this all the time - sometimes just to see if they got something in that I was interested in - and sometimes just to get a break from the family. I love the look on store workers faces when you walk out empty handed after perusing the stock for a good half hour while refusing everyones offer for help.

So got this issue, luckily I have some sours, and barrel aged in there that will be better after aging but I think I am out of control. I know such a horrible problem to have a basement full of Hill Farmstead, Lawson's , Bruery and other beers. My husband and I decided to share a bomber per night for a while and try to calm it down but that was before the blue Lobster bottles got announced and I found the bottles of Merveilleux.
We really have got to finish our Earth Eagle and Blue lobster growler asap though........
But winter has come and my favorite saisons and wheats will taper down I think I have enough to hibernate with.

I've had to swear off looking at shelves, cuz I think I'm the main reason my wife and I are broke now. I don't have nearly as much beer as you, but I just started last month picking things up and I would say there are at least 30 bottles in my house now probably more, and no one to share them with so the bombers don't get drank

Guilty as charged....I only have 80 something on hand, a lot of multiples. I'm about to buy a secondary 'cellar' fridge to alleviate the space in my Lazy Susan (where my beer currently resides).

I get some nervous jitters when I'm approaching the brewery when something good has released...glad I'm not the only one (even though I know I wasn't)
