Bell's Expedition Stout

    I picked up a single of Expedition Stout about a week ago and had a bottle date of 10/22/12 on it. Do they wait to put this stuff out for a year or did I just find a bottle that has been on the shelf for a while? Just curious to find out. I know that I have read a lot about how you should let this stuff age for a bit. Should I go get more?

    I would guess that's last years, but I don't know for absolute certain. I just got the 2013 in at my local store (I didn't check the dates, just assuming b/c it's been off the shelf for so long).

    I would consider that to be a pretty good find actually!

    they have a good bit there I will have to back and grab at least a 6er it's running like $17.99 is that high or on point? I know the bottle shop that I found it at tends to be a little overpriced.

    I picked up a six pack at a mom and pop liquor store last weekend that was last years batch. The bottles were very dusty but I don't care, I love the stuff.

    In a related story with a completely opposite ending, a couple weeks ago I stopped in at the local BevMo, where I saw several bottles of Great Divide Fresh Hop sitting on the "new/limited" shelf across from the entrance. Bottling date: 10/3/2012.

    The new round should be coming out soon, but anything you find right now is likely to be last year's batch. Also says that shelf life is unlimited. Take that as you will, although I know that this beer will stand up for many years.

    Buy more. Compare for yourself with the fresh release in about a month.

    ouch that doesn't sound "new" at all but the 2012 bottles may be limited due to the fact that it was bottled a little over a year ago

    I've seen the exact same thing regarding the Wet Hop...Great Divide beers seem to sit forever where I'm at. Not uncommon to see 9 month old Titans hanging around. Doesn't matter for the Ruffian and the Yeti's so much, but they don't sell that well from what my beer store tells me.

    I'm not too worried about shelf life. I've read up a little on the stuff and from what I've read older vintages of the stuff are drinking great.

    there was another thread about this (too lazy to go find it). I have a 2013 bottle that was bottled in July of 2013 (want to say it was 7/23/2013). so looks like you got last years

    Distribution of this years run has already begun. While it may not have rolled out in all markets, many should be seeing fresh stock.
