I want to know peoples' predictions on what will be the next white whales. Based on the craziness of their trading, I'd guess: DBD, Morning Delight, and Pappy Black Magick. Any thoughts?

I have no idea, because it takes years for a beer to become a whale naturally. There are tons of amazing beers that will never be whales, and tons of less amazing beers that are whales just because they're hard to find.
More "whalez" are created artificially by breweries doing super-exclusive limited releases, and those are impossible to predict.

TG is likely going to be making more and more of Mornin' Delight so there isn't that ridiculous 300 bottle count driving up its value. It will be ridiculous to see 4-packs of MD make it to the markets, but that's what TG is planning on doing.

The guy on Beer Geeks on my TV said the phrase "black gold" literally right as I read your post.

    wow.

also, oof @ the pappy black magick reviews. even dumber than this thread; first few have people idiotically maintaining that they can taste pappy in the beer (or that it's somehow "Elevated" the beer). really ridiculous.

    Are some of my guesses.

I think that it is hard to say now because a lot of the current whales weren’t big names back when they came out.
Most American beer geeks probably hadn’t even heard of 3 Fonteinen back in 1999.

At some point I also assumed Fond Gueuze Bierpallieters but no one seems to be interested in that one.
Doesn’t mater anything, I still have bottles left give it 3 years & it will be better than Blauw.

This thread should be called "What Beer is in Your Cellar."

Let's see... I got a pile of Thumbs Up Brewing future instawhalez. I vote for them.

I'm going to start home brewing and call my flagship beer White Whale. That way when people google 'beer white whale' I'll be a top hit.
