    Good morning grist grubbers,

Mid-MI is bright and brilliantly sunny, and is supposed to remain this way with a high of 65F. Talk about a perfect autumn day. mattcrill called-in for backup (as I frequently used to ask him) last night, so now you're stuck with your MIA captain. I've been super duper busy with my wedding DJ business, as well as a proud new owner of a 130 yr old loft space that hosts wedding receptions and nice parties. Yep, when all of you are kicking back for the weekend, my ass is either providing the venue and/or the entertainment. Thank to mattcrill for hoisting the NBS glad EVERY Sunday for the past several months. I hope to be in the driver's seat once the wedding season subsides.

I couldn't possibly go over all the new beers I've tried since early summer, but a few that completely stand out: Fathead Headhunter IPA, Columbus IPA, Hoppy Feet all spring to the front of my mind. Hmmm, what else? Mango Magnifico was crazy good. I had the pleasure of having Aying Ocktoberfest on tap (for the first time ever) at HopCat Grand Rapids - sooo tasty.

Well gang, I've gotta get going, but I trust my henchmen will keep or thread running smoothly for the rest of the day. Thanks to everyone for their participation, thus making NBS fresh, fun and informative. Did I mention that I miss you sons o' guns? Good day and good drinkin'!

In the undying spirit of craft beer,

    malty

So, let me set the stage with some haunting October 13th background music from my current favorite band, Scar the Martyr...

    Okay: Good morning, everyone!

Cool and breezy and partly cloudy here on The Island. In the midst of a much needed three-day weekend. Looking forward to watching the games on NFL RedZone, drinking beer (DirtWolf, Green Bullet, and a Golden Delicious), listening to Scar the Martyr (and inundating the boards with my posts featuring them ), eating good snacks, playing Skyrim, and having no obligations otherwise :grinning:

    The ubiquitous DirtWolf DIPA.
Citra, Chinook, Simcoe, and Mosaic hops kick up a nice aroma right off the pour...
Sweetness from the imported two-row malts remains subdued until the tasting...
The malts and hops meld perfectly, creating a very nice drink.
Ample sheets of lace trail behind the beer...
    A great finish - glad I bought the four-pack!

    Cheers!

Going to try a Founders Breakfast stout finally. It just came to Florida stores this Friday so figured I'd wait until football to open one.

Happy New Beer Sunday everyone. This week has been in flux between fall and Indian Summer. I will take every warm day that I can get as I love to spend my morning walking to the market and deciding what I will cook that day and what beer to have. Today I was planning a nice rappi, radicchio and carrot salad for lunch and I chose to try and pair that with Liefman's Cuvee Brut. This is my first real kriek beer and up until today I had only tasted kriek in Three Philosophers. Time to learn.

What I like about pairing beers with food is, it's always an adventure and it gives me an excuse to drink before noon. (ya have to taste it first). If you haven't tried the beer before you just never know. I am a novice at this and will continue to make good efforts. Beer is a terrific hobby.

    Cheers!

    ***New American IPA Sunday!!!

Well, guess who came to New Beer Sunday!?! THE Malty! Good to see ya, mate!

It's cloudy in Casper but we're supposed to hit 60 today. More snow in the forecast but it can't be as bad as what we got last Friday.

I have a Schlafly offering to submit thanks to Another6Pack. Here's my review:

    Another New Pumpkin Ale Sunday

    Greetings NBSer's,
And a special welcome to our long lost host Malty. Good to know he is still able to get up and run this fair weekly post. Beautiful autumn day in SCMN with a cool (normal) week in store. I guess we had a slight frost last night, but I haven't ventured out to see the damage on my garden. I might just be down to the parsnips and brussel sprouts.

Took a little trip to Kansas City on Friday to watch a soccer match. While in MO I figured I would pick up some Schlafly, so I'm matching Bitterbill with brewery, but not beer today. I'm staying with a hard core autumn theme. As I noted last week I had an ale with pumpkin, this week it's a onslaught of pumpkin and spices, and alcohol (8%). I like them both, and this is almost a meal in itself...certainly dessert.

Happy New ALTBIER and AMERICAN DIPA Sunday !!!

Greetings to the NBS group from a warm and breezy Jersey Shore. The first rain in over a month lasted a few days and is now gone. Good to have some precipitation, good to see it go.

I cracked this Otter Creek offering at 2:15 this morning EDT. It went well with a grilled cheese sandwich on rye after as long night of...well, that's another story for another time...so back to the beer:
    http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/119/434/?ba=NiceTaps.

Next up is this tasty treat DIPA from FFF, served up with some homemade spicy baked wings and the NFL on TV. Why not? I love a "free" day. My review: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/26/52531/?ba=NiceTaps.

So that makes of a Double Dose of new beers for me today.

Also on the virtual turntable while the games are on tele is the retro-mod psych-rock band called Rose Windows:

I wish everyone a Double Dose of all the best, Cheers!

Thanks for stopping by, but this isn't WBAYDN, this is NBS, where you tell us about the new beer you are drinking.
Watch how I do this below.

Great Sunday Afternoon my fellow NBSers! What a morning I had with my family. Woke up and made pancakes for my 4 and 2 year old girls. Then we all went out to the pumpkin patch and had a nice wagon ride. Now I am at home and watching the Packers while enjoying a Wulver. This is a big scotch ale that was aged in bourbon barrels for 11 months. It has very nice notes of bourbon, vanilla, wood, and butter scotch. A very nice sipper for this gorgeous autumn afternoon in southern WI. I may stop by with another new beer, but I look forward to reading about everyone else's today. Cheers!

    NEW O-FEST SUNDAY

Greetings from western Mass. on a perfect fall day! We are here visiting my sister and brother in law. The baby is having an extended nap so I'm at their house typing this instead of enjoying "art in the orchard". Sorry to be missing it but he is a cute little bugger so I'll give him a pass this time.

I enjoyed this seasonal offering with lunch.

    Cheers and happy NBS!

    New American Pale Ale Sunday
    Greetings fellow NBS faithful!
Thanks to malty for kicking things off this weekend. I was away with the family at our annual neighborhood "camping" trip...we are disconnected from the world but we stay in a lodge so it's not really camping. Bunch of families, 16-18 kids ranging from 2-12 years old. Lots of fun but makes it a challenge to get NBS rolling.
Got back to some cloudy and cool Central OH weather. Perfect for some of the last Sam Adams O-fests.
This one from Rivertown was new for me. Nothing over the top. A safe American Pale Ale. Not sure it's as bad as the reviews make it out to be.
Thanks to Ri0 for trying to moderate the forum. Please post AFTER you've sampled your new beer with a good description or linked review.
    Happy NBS one and all!
    Peace, love, and malty-ness,
    Matt

Greetings fellow NBSers! It's good to see Malty chiming in on a sunny autumn day here in the Fourth Corner. I spent most of the week dog, cat, and house sitting for a friend while she was in Denver for the GABF, where one of our local breweries is bringing home a Silver medal. My first new brew is an anniversary brew from one of Washington's early entries into the craft beer world: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/932/100687/?ba=beertunes

    New Saison Sunday

Happy NBS everyone! I'm just sitting at home watching football, enjoyed a Bengals win earlier today although for a while I thought they were going to blow it. Bengals, Bungles, whatever. For my first new brew of the day, I had a bottle of Prairie Artisan Ales Puncheon farmhouse ale. I thought it was good, and here's my review: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/30356/97654/?ba=bluejacket74

I'll post my pics later on the What Are You Drinking Now thread, I'm just too lazy to do it right now. I'll have another new beer review on here in a little while.
