I figure I'll go ahead and solve the collective action problem and start the thread. Several people in the NEBCO thread have expressed interest in a New Haven bottle share, so let's move discussion here. Who's got good ideas for when and where?

One idea for the "where" might be the Luck and Levity homebrew store on Crown street. Scott (the owner) has his "Brew Lounge" bottle share every month, and I haven't been in a while, but last I went it's not the geekiest crowd. I bet Scott might be willing to host us one day for a more "upscale" tasting.

    Other ideas?

I still think WoosterBill's idea of doing it at NEBCO is the best. WIth a little advanced notice, I'm sure the boys would be accomidating.

My 1st open weekend is 11/9, **Maybe** 11/2.

at nebco would be sweet, but those guys are always busy and close on the early side of getting out of work. If it panned out, that would be cool as hell.

I second the luck and levity thing, Scotts a pretty good guy, is always happy to have people, and is very accomadating, so he would at least work with the group to try for it.

I'd be game for bringing some good stuff and hanging out. No input on place and time, other than I'll try to make it where/when ever it goes down.

Sorry, I accidentally created a repeat thread on this and couldn't figure out how to delete it. I would be interested in making this happen too, have a few nice bottles I could bring. I think it might be best to do after the NEBCo relocation, but will try to make it either way. Currently, a Saturday would work best for me.

given the interest expressed in the other thread, i think we should try to have several smaller meetings (especially since the original seed was planted as 1 guy saying to another "oh you live walking distance from wine thief? me too, let's open some bottles sometime!"

i don't think there's any reason to BA cockblock each other with scheduling; let's just try to organize public meetings every so often via BA. obviously, if you don't want to meet new people and just want to meet up with someone you've talked to on BA, private message them and don't invite everyone else.

me, i'm only interested in the occasional all-inclusive thing.

anyone know the NEBCO guys well enough to put in a call about a somewhat-organized thing in the coming few weeks?

edit: my point about "let's not schedule," isn't "let's not schedule," it's "let's not push the meeting back if so and so can't make it; just make another one."

As I was the one who accidentally got the ball rolling with the "Oh, you live within walking distance of me? We should open bottles sometime" off-the-cuff comment, I'll take the initiative of broaching the possibility of setting up a semi-regular public bottle share at NEBCO (basically Pahn's idea from above); I know the guys there pretty well.

Also, as I mentioned in the other thread, I'd like to host a cellar-shrinking party some time; send me a BM if you'd like an invite, and I'll start thinking about a good weekend, possibly around mid-November.

    Cheers!

I'm definitely interested in a local bottle share. I always end up sitting on bigger beers that I'd love to share.

These semi regulars sound like a fantastic idea. For anyone who might be interested in making the trip a little farther south, 2 Rds has a fantastic event room right when you walk up the stairs to the right. Have talked to one of the owners on a couple of occasions and said they might be interested in hosting something like this. Been a while since the topic has been broached but if people are interested in that as a venue as well, we could try and set it up.

I'd rather stick to NEBCO or this homebrewer place. 2 Roads rubs me the wrong way a bit. And then it'll be awkward when we drink none of their beer, etc...
