BeerFX is putting on an event at Jake Melnick's Thursday November 14th with Cory King of Side Project/Perennial, Tom Korder of Penrose/formerly Goose Island, and Caleb Staton of Upland about sour beers. Steve Mastny of Beer Download is hosting. The event looks pretty excellent and Side Project tweeted Saison Du Fermier in response to this, so you may infer that you'll have a chance to taste that highly rated brew. I've got my ticket, maybe you want to get yours here:

Yep, I will be bringing Saison du Fermier with me. I think that the tickets to this are pretty limited, so they will probably sell out soon if you are interested in going...

You sure did. What a great beer. Truly a treat. Even more excited that I got to walk away with a bottle. The bottle share folks out in the west burbs will be pretty excited too.

Great event by BeerFX. Steve Mastny did a great job moderating. I learned quite a bit from Cory, Tom, and Caleb. A lot of great folks there too including meeting some of you fellow BAs. Upland Strawberry was great, and a real treat to try that Pawpaw. Never heard of the fruit, but it paired well with that lambic. Brett Venture #2 was really smooth, but Saison du Fermier stole the show. I would definitely recommend any of these BeerFX events in the future. They'll take care of you.

Good talks, good beers. For those of you who didn't attend, here was the beer list:

    - Bruery Oude Tart
    - Upland Strawberry Lambic
    - Upland Paw Paw Lambic
    - Goose Island 2 More Weeks
    - Goose Island Lolita 2013
    - Side Project Brett Venture #2 (Drie Fonteinen Brett Brux-fermented pale ale)
    - Side Project Saison du Fermier (getting really tart, btw)
    - a few fun beers floating around the crowd (HF Clara, Apple Brandy Mexican Cake)

Brian Taylor from Goose Island was a no-show, but Caleb Staton, Corey King and Tom Korder had more than enough insight and knowledge to share with the crowd. Hopefully video will be edited and ready to post in the next few months.

@PHBoiler brought up the questions about Secret Barrel Society with Caleb and, to his credit, answered in a respectable way. It was a reiteration of what he he had to say in the thread here, and while I don't fully agree with his opinion on the issue I give him credit for being a good sport about it.
