Union Jack or Lagunitas IPA are my go to six packs. I buy whatever is fresher.

Wookey Jack single-handedly saved CDA's for me. I was ready to give up on the style, because the best I'd had OK, nost were meh or lower. Wookey Jack is the standard by which all other CDA's are judged now. And, I'm a huge Union Jack fan. It's a great beer, and the only craft option at one of the divier bars in my town, which means I'll sometimes swing by just for a pint.

I love pretty much all of FW's beers. Everything from the easy drinking Union Jack and Pivo all the way up to Parabola and the anniversary beers. They're one of the breweries doing everything right.

Union Jack is amazing. Of the 44 regular IPAs that I've reviewed thus far, it ranks second, only behind Lewis & Clark Tumbleweed.

I like UJ but rarely find it very fresh. Same with DJ

This is one that does nothing for me, I realize it has it's fans, but this one is blah to me.

Union Jack is an AWESOME IPA; almost as good as Fat Heads Head Hunter IPA.

I too find Double Jack to be too cloying. In all fairness I find many DIPAs to be too cloying but there are exceptions: PtE, PtY, Heady Topper, Dirt Wolf, Stone’s Enjoy By, Abner, Ephraim, Double Citra. Shaun Hill of Hill Farmstead has the perfect touch in making DIPAs IMHO, just the right amount of malt backbone to balance the hops with no cloying tastes.

    Cheers!

Union Jack is one of my favorite IPAs along with Odell IPA. Unfortunately we just can't seem to get it fresh here. I keep wanting to buy some but the latest bottled on date I've found is 7/24/13. The distribution of FW beers has been terrible here lately.

This is my first post here and I figured I'd start off by saying Union Jack is on the top of my list. SOLID IPA! I've been trying to find something even better but haven't found one yet. Any suggestions for an IPA that is up to Union Jack caliber?

There's a ton of local/regional IPAs that are in UJs league. Personally, I'm a big fan of Schooner Exacts 3 Grid and Hop Vine IPAs, as well as The Gospel from Skagit, Breakaway from American, Saint Florian from Silver City, and Top Cutter from Bale Breaker.

Union Jack is one of my go-to IPAs. It's so good that it sometimes discourages me from branching out and trying new IPAs because so many breweries crank out mediocre ones and I feel like I'm rolling the dice a little. Meanwhile, Union Jack never disappoints.

In my top 2 or 3 IPA's. Can't get in Georgia but I've certainly stuffed some in my checked luggage when I'm in a State that distributes it AND if it's fresh. Had an interesting experience with UJ a couple years ago. Had a pint at the Yard House in Costa Mesa and if you'd blindfolded me I'd swear I was smelling a mango smoothie. Loved it, but haven't had that much tropical notes in my UJ since.

Defintely one of my all time favorites! Freshness has been spotty in Chicagoland but you just have to keep looking to find chilled sixers just a few weeks from brew date. Also love that FW prints the brew date in a clear, easy to read spot on the label.

I will second all of what beertunes said and add that one of my personal favorites is Trickster from Black Raven. I could drink pint after pint of it. But living up there in the PNW you shouldn't have too many problems finding top notch local IPA's! I need to move back :slight_frown:

    Cheers!

Was going to be my comment exactly. I really enjoy it but can almost never find it fresh. However, this summer I was in DC (~3k miles away) and sitting on the shelf was 6 day old union jack. At the store near my office, roughly 2 hours away from the brewery, 7 months old.

It's incredible. Too bad fresh FW products don't exist in MA

Union Jack was definitely a favorite of mine in college! That and the OG Stone IPA is what got me into IPAs

Union is a solid IPA. Double is just that, a Double or Imperial IPA so two different animals.
Here in NJ we get a good amount of Troegs Nugget Nectar every Spring and I tell people who have a NN jones the rest of the year when it's not around to try Union as an alternative. I think it's somewhat similar with caramel and orange notes being the main flavours in each. At least, first time I tried Union it reminded me of NN. Not equal, mind you, but a good option to it.
