I noticed this is maybe just a Jacksonville, Fl thing, but most if not all tasting rooms do not open until 3pm EST.

I have looked on many web sites and most open at 11am. Anyone know why this is?

    staffing?
    lazy? kidding....
rather be open late than early?

The ONLY reason I ask, is I like to start early aka lunch to drink.
If I am drinking that day, I like to have a beer with lunch and maybe a few more later, maybe not.

I know we would visit the local watering hole more if they were open at 11am or at least noon. yea I get it I am retired, etc, but heck it seems no one is working during the day anyway. anyway just curious, because I see many folks drinking at lunch in LOTS of other places. Euro street, Kickbacks, pizza places, etc etc

    thanks!

I think most just would not get enough business to warrant that, especially if they are a brewery only and do not serve food. At least that's the case here in Charlotte. Of course, the brewpubs are open for lunch, but the other breweries are usually busy brewing during the day.

the thing is if you look at sites of places like CCB and founders etc they are open at 11am. I guess it says if your Not open until 3 your beer probably sucks...:grinning:

Founders is a brewpub (kind of, they have food) and CCB opens early because initially the city of Tampa would not let them stay open late. I think you may just have to accept that wanting to drink early (at least at a place that doesn't serve food) puts you in the minority even on the weekends and these places may have discovered that being open at 11am means the place is empty until about 3.

Americans are judgmental about morning drinking. When I was in the UK, pubs I went to pubs at 10 in the morning. It was great.

As someone mentioned above, I think a lot of has to do with food and the "lunch + beer" thing. The breweries/brewpubs/tasting rooms I've been to that open at 11, will almost always serve food.

yea but I just mentioned two, if you look at all the places that have tasting rooms, whatever you want to call them many of them open before 3pm.

yea I will look closer at the web sites. But I do remember many open before 3pm without selling food.
Orlando brewing used to be open before 3pm, now its just fri-sun.
