One of my favorite beers is Russian Rivers Consecration, but it is rarely available. Does anyone have a similar beer that they could recommend that would have greater availability?

    Thanks,
    Joe

The store near me always seems to have some too.

If Prairie is any easier to find, give Prairie Puncheon a try. Not quite like Consecration but similar flavor profile.

A new batch of Consecration was released about a month ago; it's definitely still on a bunch of store shelves.

Puncheon is nothing like Consecration. Worst advice evar.

Oude Tart, once a year but should have wider distro right now. Any domestic sour is going to be pretty irregular as far as availability. You gotta stock up.

    As Sublime said, Oude Tart.

I'd also put a vote in for Duchesse De Bourgogne. Quite a few beers in the Flanders Red Ale category will fit the bill: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/style/53

I haven't tried it yet, but a friend of mine mentioned Love Child No. 3 as being similar.

Duchesse is kind of a back-sweetened mess. Concecration is really head and shoulders above it.

It's sweet? It was dry, sour, and oaky to me, but well, I do like beers like Berserker, so I probably didn't notice.

Red poppy from lost abbey. Bigger distribution but only released once a year. As previously stated. You just need to stock up if you want a regular supply

It's been awhile, but I remember La Roja by Jolly Pumpkin being not unlike Consecration. It's not at that level, but it had similar flavors.

Nothing is like Consecration. On tap, I don't know if I've had a beer I enjoyed smelling/drinking more. I've had it out of a bottle with about 8 months on it.. Couldn't compare.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the advice. I will start stockpiling. I have even resorted to brewing it at home but it takes over 6 months to complete and I doubt it will taste quite as good.

    Thanks again,
    Joe

Try Eagle Rock Brewing's Yearling if you can find it. Was re-released a month or two ago and reminds me of kinda an unfruited consecration. Only issue is, it's released less frequently than consecration... Still may be able to find some if you're in the LA area.

OP asked for Consecration substitutes with greater availability and you suggest two beers that were only released once, in even more limited quantities than Consecration?
