That was nice of you, but if you're implying that people in Houston wouldn't do the same, you're wrong, and it ignores the probability that some people in Dallas would've taken the case.
I think the posts here on BA lead you to have an inaccurate picture of the Houston scene. Beer might sell out at the giant Spec's Warehouse in minutes, but it's still to be found elsewhere all across the city in in the suburbs, much like DFW.
Just because you see Matt Chow posting photos of his haul doesn't mean that everyone in Houston does the same, and that nobody in DFW does. Besides, he doesn't "grab all the beer." You're talking about a case here and there for releases that have hundreds of cases. It's so insignificant yet you feel the need to make a big deal out of it. I have seen his cellar and he's not the hoarder you probably imagine him to be.

I'm not getting this thread shut down because we go off topic, which is ridiculous, but I've been down there and I've seen this mess first hand. So I'll disagree with you and I'm sure we can continue this conversation again and again in other threads.

you're welcome to come to my next bottle share and see my "mess" first hand. i can assure you im not sitting on cases of anything but New Republic Astrolabe.

just because im more open and public about it doesnt mean anything, im the exception, not the rule.

also, while i was "bragging" it was still on topic as far as my post was concerned.

And I've been in DFW for releases and had an equally hard time finding what I wanted. I'm not saying Houston and DFW are exactly the same, but we're not as different as you think.

We don't have multiple threads bragging about hoarding, we don't pride ourselves by giving ourselves names like "Houston hoarders". Sure there are people here that hoard and I have as well but my issue is bragging about it when you know damn well there are plenty of people that got nothing. Just because someone gives someone else some of their haul doesn't make it any less tasteless or "douchey" to post about it.

Besides, what's the point? To show everyone how "generous" you're being by hooking up a few when the majority may have got nothing?

Never got my edit in time. Even if half of the Houston ba's are joking, I guarantee you it breeds a certain mentality (especially for newer BA's) that ultimately makes things worse for yourselves.

Yeah, my wife got a few 4 packs. I know she said it was at Whole Foods (Allen I think) with no limit and BBQ was there as well.

Fuckin a...seriously? 5 bottles? How many more are you going to buy when it hits Houston?

Thank god the hoarders are few and far between. At least in Fort Worth, we get very little of the limited stuff as it is. Don't need shit like this happening every time.

So when you like a beer, how many do you buy? 1? 2, so you can let one sit for a while? Your dfw buddies just said they saw a bunch of BBQ at various stores, 5 isn't even a dent in the supply, and for you to get bent is quite entertaining on this end of the screen.

People buy beer all the time and at quantities, I'm just public with what I do.

5 bottles hardly a hoarder makes. Especially with a beer like BBQ. People bought 6-12 bottles each of DDG and weren't villified.

Rainer is correct, Houston is known for the hoarding mostly for the publicity Specs in Midtown gives to releases. What you guys see are things like Pumkinator and such that aren't even rare, just overhyped.

Look at truly hard to get beers like Uncle Jacobs, KBS, and Parabola. Every town in TX that got these beers sold out crazy fast, not just Houston.

I love my BA pals from DFW, but you guys need to realize stuff is crazy all over with beer.

We do realize stuff is crazy all over, but again, we don't feel the need to be assholes about it. I can sit here and post how many bottles of xyz I just bought, take pictures and post them, tell you all about who I hooked up but whats the point?

Yes, Pumpkinator and BBQ are all over but there have been plenty of examples in the past that are more limited and its the same scenario over and over again. How many people do you think would be pissed off if I bought 10 cases of Viking Metal, posted it in the JK forum and told everyone how many Dallas BA's I hooked up? Whether anyone admits it or not there would be a lot of pissed off people and many of those are the same ones that support that kind of shit as long as they are benefiting.

Or how about if I got home and posted my 12 bottles each of the Funk and Sour Fest beers? I bet that would go over well with the people who got shut out. Again, the same people who have openly supported Danz hoarding would be the biggest whiners. There were already plenty of them bitching that they didn't get tickets, I guess they wouldn't mind me posting how many extra bottles I got.

*I shouldn't even say this because I know there would be a lot of hypocrites getting po'd just thinking about seeing my 24 bottle haul but NO I am not getting anything other than my allotment.

Edit: nothing personal against you Danz, just stating my opinion which some people agree with and others don't which is expected and fine.

Lol, sorry Danz, I have no idea how Danz got in front of hoarding above. It was just supposed to be "who have openly supported hoarding".

I'm just here to have a discussion. No worries.

I just didn't see 5 bottles as hoarding.

I can see where you are coming from, but I don't think Matt was trying to imply he was hoarding or super bragging about 5 bottles of BBQ. He just loves that beer. lol

I don't see 5 as being a big deal either but I just don't post about it, thats the difference. I'm also not so sure Matt isn't just trying to stir the pot

Edit: I'm patiently waiting for Matt to like this post

You also have to realize he wouldn't get pissed if somebody else did what he did. Love him or hate him, he's not going to care if he got beat to the punch. lol

*Never say never I guess, but from what I know of Mr. Chow, this is true.

I can honestly say he is not hypocritical and has no shame. As for many of his supporters, I can't say the same.
