Anyone else going to this? There is practically ZERO info on this event (that I know of) other than it's on the 22nd, is $40 pp, goes from 7-9, and will have beers from both breweries there. I loved the Hot n Soul / Funky Buddha dinner a couple months ago and CCB is CCB so I figured it's worth checking out. Plus Bash is awesome. Anyone know any other details about what to expect?

Is this some type of competition? cool concept... see how the patrons vote at the end of the night with competing brews of similar styles during each course.

That would be awesome. At this point I have no idea what to expect. Blindly made reservations hoping that it's good haha.

EDIT: Oh yeah the only other thing about it I know is that you have to call them to make reservations.

Found 3 different listings for this pairing and none of them give any info. Some one needs to step up their marketing.

This was announced by e-mail to our customers first, which pretty much sold us out, just yesterday we decided to rent some outside tables due to the overwhelming demand, if you would like me information, please feel free to call us at 954 578 6700

There will be five beer tastings, from each of the brewers that they are going to match with a food, the surprise in this event is the food, Chef is not releasing the menu items, until he is plating each item, them the brewery will have to pair the beer. Our customers will judge each round to choose a winner at the end of the night. We will have reps from each. These events always turn into an amazing night of fun for our customers.

If the surprise is the food, do you have a beer list?

I think the whole thing is a surprise. I don't like surprises. I like knowing what I'm going to be consuming when I throw down $$$ in advance. See: awesome menu(posted 6 weeks ago) that Loscalzo put together for Kegs and Eggs at CCB this morning.

Well it seems that this event will not please all, but it doesn't matter as they are all sold out and trying to make more seats to fill the demand.

Still debating on whether or not to go. They told me and my wife to show up and they would call us tomorrow if anything changes. As we live in Margate it's a long drive to get there and the extra tables not to have arrived. Still really sounds like a good time so we shall see.

I think the wife and I have decided to go! Should be a good time, will report back. If any of you are going look for the large white guy with the red goatee and come say hi!

I have two seats. My coworker bailed. You'll be good. Look for the dark haired fat guy in the blue checkered shirt with nerd glasses.

Furthermore, PM me your name so I can just transfer my extra two seats to you when I arrive. My fiance will be swinging by the office any minute to get me and I work about five minutes away from Bash.

Just to give everyone a heads up for next time, this event was pretty awesome. Neither brewery knew what the other brought, nor did they know what the chef was preparing and had to pair on the fly. If they used a beer, they couldn't use it for a second course, which made it risky for them. I thought it ended up being awesome. After each round, the servers came around and took a vote as to which pairing was better. The total number of votes at the end named the "winner". The pairings were:

    1. Honey soy glazed wings paired w/ Jai Alai and Rice Krispie Treats Ale. TIE 37-37. Although Jai Alai is the better beer, I picked Rice Krispie for this pairing. Worked really well.
    2. Hawaiian Pork Taco with Habanero Mange Salsa paired w/ CCB Bolita Double Brown and Funky Buddha Fire in the Hole (Raspberry Habanero Red ale). Funky buddha won this round 43-32, although I chose Bolita. Most people were excited by the lucky pairing of the Habanero salsa and beer.
    3. Bratwurst Pot Pie paired w/ Funky's Floridian and CCB Vienna Lager. Vienna Lager won this one 42-30. Floridian's banana flavors didn't work as well compared to Vienna, but it was well done by both sides. This dish may have been my favorite.
    4. Herb crusted rack of lamb with chipotle sweet potato mash and raspberry sauce paired with CCB High Seas and Funky Buddha Hop gun. Hop gun won 50-25, rightfully so. The caramely malts really came through.
    5. Pumpkin chocolate chip caramel bacon bar (cake) paired with CCB Cubano Espresso vs Funky Buddha Doc Brown Ale. Easy homerun for CCB here, won 57-17.
Overall CCB won by about 20 votes but it was very close. It was a really fun event and the competition aspect of the pairings made for a unique dynamic that I'd like to see again very soon. Great job to everyone at Bash, CCB, and Buddha.

Had a great time with the wife! The star of the night I thought was the food, it was delicious. Both breweries brought some great beers and it seemed that everyone really enjoyed themselves. Will definitely be on the lookout for more of these!
