Grabbed a pack of Harvest this afternoon, got home and noticed the caps are all plain black with no lettering at all (used to have the founders emblem) . As well, the font for the ABV and IBU's on the neck has changed to a slightly bolder/thicker font.

Lifechanging? I have my doubts, but it is a change. Not sure if they just forgot to order the emblem'ed caps one month and had to switch to plain black for a short while, or perhaps a problem with the cap supplier? Or perhaps is this a permanent change? If so, a sign that Founders is struggling to keep it profit margin? Has to switch to cheaper, plain caps?

Nobody's buying Doom or Mango Magnifico, so that's why.

Could've fooled me. No Doom to be found around here and Mango supply on shelves is dwindling. I do know of a place that has Bolt Cutter on the shelf...

Don't worry, the $30 a bottle we'll be spending on Sweet Repute will ensure that Founders has a Merry Christmas.

I asked this yesterday in the Harvest Ale thread. My guess is that an order of logo'd caps was delayed so they had to use plain black caps.

Seriously? You made this leap because of their bottle caps?

I doubt they are missing much profit. Have you seen their prices?!

Pretty sure they are going out of business and burning down.

? A VERY affordable price point on their beer. Can usually grab a 4pk of Breakfast Stout for 8.99. 6pk of their porter for 9.99 or maybe even cheaper. I could go on and on... Don't see a problem with their pricing.

11.99-12.99 for FBS 4 pack here in MA. The year round offering like centennial and All Day go for 11-12. I guess it depends on what state and where you shop.

Yeah...Founders prices are some of the best for the quality of beer you get. No issue with their pricing.

Speaking on the all black caps, I am pretty sure I picked up some last year that were all black, could've possibly been FBS. I don't think its anything to fret about. And for the quality of beer Founders puts out, I find them to be very affordable! I'm a huge fan :grinning:

Very true and EXACTLY why you can't blame Founders for high prices you find in other states.

When this year's FBS was first released, my local grocery store had it for $7.29! Picked up the last 2 4-packs they had. Went back 2 weeks later and it had changed to $9.99, still good, guess they realized their mistake.

I used to buy beer solely based on what the label looked like. Now I buy beer based on its cap. Forget what's inside the bottle;-)

One of corners of the label of my Harvet Ale bottle was peeling back about 1/16th of an inch. With this desperate attempt to use cheaper glue, is Founders going out of business? :slight_frown:
