Bobby brought it to a tasting yesterday and said they were testing the carbonation on it and it probably wouldn't be in stores until next week. Surprised when I saw Naperville Binny's got it today.

Nah. I've had a ton of pipeworks brews. 30+ to be specific. I thought it was weird that once in awhile people said there were carb issues with their beer (I've never had any). Today I experienced that. Honestly, I don't think me or anyone here is looking for anything free from PW. We just wanna let PW know. Simple as that.

I absolutely do not doubt some people will complain for freebies, but there have 100% been carbonation issues with some beers in the past. Ive personally had such an issue and in one of the older threads discussed it. No big deal at all. They put out how many batches? How many experimental new beers and tweaks on old beers? Of course theres going to be issues here and there its expected. Fortunately these guys brew good beer and they do it well, because most of the time theres been no issues.

It doesnt mean that the occasional quality issue isnt worth mentioning though. Pipeworks probably values feedback to correct mistakes and prevent future occurrences.

I hope this is the case. I normally trust the craft community. It's just weird it's been happening more often since PWs addressed the issue

i myself opened a date sugar yeast magik that was dead flat. pipeworks essentially claimed that i didn't know the difference between low carbonation and flat. i do. in any case, i've never seen a dubbel, american or belgian, that was carbonated as little as my bottle of DSYM was. if it was intentional, it was a bad beer because that beer desperately needed more carb. if it wasn't intentional, my complaint was not addressed publicly as unintentional.

and yes, i understand that not every batch can be perfect, and i will continue to buy pipeworks beer. but claiming that long-established members of this board are just in it to get a free $10 bomber is shortsighted at best.

I have also probably had about 100 beers from Pipeworks. Just had my first carb issue that I posted about (over carbed End Of Days) and am not looking for anything at all. I appreciate that they take the time to address/clarify issues in this thread. The beer still tasted pretty good.

    October 25, 2013 Update

This week we have one brand new beer and two old hoppy monster making their return.

Brother Blue Beerdo is a Strong Dark Belgian Style Ale brewed with Demerara sugar, dark Belgian candi syrup and 220 pounds of Klug Farm Blueberries in each 7 barrel batch. The result is a beautiful blend of classic Trappist Ale notes of spicy yeast, dark fruits and dark sugar/molasses with the lightly acidic and perfectly fruity taste of blueberries. $11.99, 750mL, 10% ABV

Something Hoppy This Way Comes...Back. Our ode to Sorachi Ace hops returns in all its wicked goodness. The nose of this Imperial IPA is teeming with notes of lemon, vanilla, citrus fruit and oak. This is definitely one of our favorites. Drink early, drink often. $10.99 22oz, 10% ABV

Ninja vs Unicorn. Enough Said. $9.99, 22oz, 8.5% ABV

All three will be available for Friends With Benefits pick up at both Binny's Lincoln Park and West Lakeview Liquors later today. (NOTE: Due to an invoicing error some locations may have Brother Blue Beardo priced at $12.99. The problem is being resolved as quickly as possible.)

    On the Brewing Horizon:
Hey, Careful Man, There's A Beverage Here: White Russian Imperial Stout with Vanilla Bean, Cacao Nibs and Ipsento Coffee added

Pipeworks Cascade: Imperial IPA featuring Hop Head Farms Cascade Hops

Pipeworks Centennial: Imperial IPA featuring Hop Head Farms Centennial Hops

    nah,

    2 things.

    A) we're dialing in our carb on things we want to be 'lower' on the carb...
    B) our bottling system was never meant to do the volume it is currently doing... a redonkulous amount (a few hundred thousand by hand <- that's pretty badass lol)... so there is definitely some variation that we are aware of and try to take every measure possible to fix it... but it seems like a constant battle....
    C) we're in the processing of getting an equipment loan for a new state-of-the-art (i say that because the older ones weren't) 6-head meheen... which will eliminate a lot of our bottle-to-bottle variations...

hasn't happend at all to our knowledge which is the totally odd thing because we have freebies galore to give out... most people who write in with a complaint are basically like "nah, it's cool, i don't care that i just spent $10 on your bomber... you don't gotta get me back, just wanted to let you know so you can keep making a dope product..." to which we go... "huh....okay? cool (we'll drink your replacement beer then!)" [note - we can't legally give out replacement beer... that was figurative]

we're working with another brewery and cordially phasing out 'ninja' as a stand alone line of ours... unicorns stays... and i guess we know who won now... nice guys, hopefully we can do a collaboration 'ninja' to give it a send off. NVU stays though.

so Cascade Ninja is now just Pipeworks Cascade... same ninja motif on the label though. all the 'ninja's will follow suit including Citra.

ha! come on! we were talking it through...! =) because it was a low carbed beer... and i think we figured out that yes we probably had some issues that weren't just the intended low carb! come on!

    oops,

to clarify: "and i guess we know who won now... nice guys" two separate sentences... first one referring to that the unicorn won since ninja is being phased out... and the second saying that the other brewery is nice guys and we were able to figure it out as brewers without lawyers, which was badass.

just trying to clarify that we weren't saying... "guess we know who won...nice guys" (in a sarcastic manner)
