Hopefully I'll be there no later than 5pm. There will be a table set up, with a jack-o-lantern on it...carved to look like a brettanomyces cell. We have between 4-5 gal of each of the beers, so they should easily last till 8pm!

Hey guys. So, I will actually be there tonight. I'm volunteering to set up and then when I'm done I'm meeting some friends who are waiting in line, so while I know who none of you are, I'll be there. I have no real clue what to expect but hope to meet some people and try some beer. I won't be staying overnight though as I'll get a wrist band and be home in bed.

So I've decided to be "that guy" and will be wearing a Santa suit for as long as I can without freezing my nutsack off. I figure this will make it easy for people to find me. Feel free to use me as a way point as in "we're about 50 yards past that Santa guy". Heading to Midwest Supplies now (2 hour drive) and will see you all tonight. I did bring my second Assassin to share so hit up Santa to see if it's been opened yet.

More info from Surly's email they just sent out:

During Darkness Day, we'll be pouring 8oz glasses of Darkness 2013, as well as 8oz pours of Damien, El Hefe Negro and a special for this year, a Smoked IPA brewed with Puya Chiles, called Dumpster Fire. We'll also be pouring 12oz glasses of Dampfbier, Cacao Bender, Hell, Furious and cask pours of Oak-aged Bender, Cynic aged on apple wood and tea-bagged Overrated. Beer tickets are $4. CASH ONLY.

As usual, we'll have a bunch of food trucks parked outside the brewery throughout the day. From 6am until 11am Glam Doll Donuts and Caribou Coffee will be serving outside the gates. All donations given to Caribou Coffee during the event go to Surly Gives a Damn, which in turn will purchase then donate bags of coffee to the Children's Hospital and Humphrey Cancer Center. It's that easy to Give a Damn!

Stanley's On Wheels, Scratch Food Truck, Gogi Brothers Korean BBQ, Natedogs, Asian Invasion,Groveland Confections and Tollefson Family Grill will be serving up grub from 11am until 5:30pm.

A big part of Darkness Day is the music and this year it's going to be LOUD \^^/. Band lineup: (Note: Times are subject to change without notice)
    11-11:30am: Fallen Empire
12-12:30pm: God Came From Space (featuring Slayrah from Surly)
    1-1:30pm: Rivers of Nihil
2-2:45pm: Vulgaari (featuring head brewer Todd)
    3:15-4pm: Exhumed
    4:30-5:15pm: Impaler

Darkness swag will also be available throughout the day inside the brewery and under the big tent. This year's Darkness art was created by local artist Josh "Jawsh" Lemke. Check out his other work via @jawshtheartist. Josh will be under the big tent signing posters, bottles and anything else you might want him to pen from 2-3pm. Stop by and meet him.

How long did it take to go through the line? I need to leave by 4 and have no idea how long it takes to buy extra bottles since I can't come earlier.

How late did the extra bottles hold out last year? I might be able to swing by around 4:30 or 5:00 and getting some bottles that way seems way easier than trying to get lucky going from store to store after work next week.

Not sure if I'm misunderstanding you, but wristbands are given out in the morning, not tonight.

Pumped for the festivities tonight, as always...

I think what he is saying is that because he is a volunteer, he gets a wristband right away.

I'm a volunteer the night before and we get a wristband for volunteering. Hasn't been clear on when we get the wrist band, but I do not "need" to wait in line, but hey, there is fun to be had.

I went through the line after 500 last year and got 4 bottles, they did not run out of bottles if I remember correctly, they just closed down the event close to 600.
