According to Facebook, both releasing this weekend. 198 bottles of the former, no number listed on the latter. Looks like the latter was a Sole Composition in the past but is now a normal release?

Being new to the Pacific Northwest beer scene, how do these releases work? Do we get lines for these before the tasting room opens at 1 and immediate sell out? I've never gotten my hands on any of the Sole Composition ... and I'm guessing that luckless string will continue with the low numbers released.

Oh, this is the beer equivalent of Fight Club and I just violated the rules? I thought that was what the Great Lakes folks were mocked for. ;-)

Maybe, but I for one appreciate it. Still not sure if I want to drive up for it, but it's an option now, and it sure is tempting.

As a final comment for the OP... availability really varies. For something like this, given the limited number of bottles, my guess is that they'll sell out at the brewery. However, other SC releases have been more "plentiful," and even get out into limited distribution sometimes. From time to time, I've even seen bottles and kegs of the stuff down here in Eugene (16 tons seems to have some sort of inside track with Upright).

Just saying that I don't think this is typical of all SC release events.

Most seasonal releases will last the weekend, if not a couple weeks. Flora Rustica, Billy the Mountain, etc. are around for a while. However, there is a history of former Sole Comps selling quickly (ie, Special Herbs). I doubt getting in line is necessary, but I wouldn't be surprised if Saison du Blodget moves quickly because of its history. But typically these seasonals are in the 70-80 case release range. So plenty to go around. With the Sole Comp, nearly 200 bottles is on the high side for Upright. And there's now a 2-bottle limit. So I would expect this to last until Saturday at least, maybe further. I could be wrong, but I doubt you have to line-up before opening. Just plan on being there on Friday. Keep in mind, this isn't the Midwest. If this beer sells out quickly, there's another rare limited bottle release tomorrow, so no worries.

For the Saison du Blodget, per there FB post, there is 86 cases. If its anything like the last releases (BA Flora and SPecial Herbs), they will keep a small amount to sell out of the tasting room and they will distribute the rest, to the plethora of bottle shops around town and beyond.

Talked to the folks at Bier Stein and 16 tons, and they also thought there might be a chance to get their hands on some of the saison. Bier Stein actually got a case of the Special Herbs (it went fast), so it wouldn't be a complete surprise to see some of the saison down this way as well.

As for the "pinot cherry," well...

This is appears to be very accurate information. Stopped by last night to get my two bottles (and of course drink a glass of the pils), and while there was a fairly steady stream of folks coming in to buy bottles, it was hardly a stampede. Looked like they were maybe going through a case or two every hour.

I left around 7:30 or so, and they still seemed to have an ample supply of the pinot cherry. For anyone interested in heading over today, price for both the saison and the PC was $15 a bottle.

You got overcharged then! Saison was only $12 or $125/case.

I didn't buy any, but I thought that's what I read on the wall. Now I'm wondering if I just misread the price list. Sounds like it...

(I do know that the PC was $15 a bottle, as I bought a couple bottles of that)
