About 5 years ago I would have said Green Flash WCIPA. Now, I would revise that to good ole Heady Topper. Even further now, I would say Foothills Jade and NoDa Hop Drop and Roll fill the bill just fine for me, and they're local.

I can't say just one IPA is the best, rather I would say that I have a collection of favorites. Dogfish, Green Flash, Flying Fish, Stone, Firestone Walker, Dragoon(local IPA in Tucson, AZ) and The Great Divide all have some of the best. I guess just given the style they all start to blend together at some point. That's not to say that the style is dead but just that there is SOO much out there that at some point they all start to taste the same.

As I sit here enjoying my last Heady Topper, my top 5 current IPAs are:

    Sculpin
    Sweetwater
    Heady Topper
    Celebration
    Stone

A three way tie of sorts among single IPAs. Two Hearted Ale, Racer 5, and Founders Artist Black IPA. Now I do have a newbie for me Stone IPA in my chilled "cellar", aka garage fridge, that may turn my list into a foursome at my top.

My favorite IPA is Alpine Nelson. Double would be Abrasive and Heady.

Nelson followed by Blind Pig and Duet since you mentioned best IPA. I'm not counting doubles.

Could I instead take this opportunity to say how bogus that DFH IPA glassware in the OP's picture is? I bought two at the brewpub while on vacation. The first one broke in my hand while I was drinking. The next day, the other one blew over from the lightest breeze ever on my balcony! Luckily, my DFH pint glass still survives to hold tasty brews to this day.

Everyone is going to say Sculpin, Heady Topper and Pliny.

I like Two Hearted, and, although not technically an IPA, I enjoyed Lagunita's Little Sumpin' Sumpin'.

Alpine Nelson and Duet are tied for my favorite IPA. They're both so good in their own way.
