...specifically curious if anyone can recommend anywhere to eat (beer related even better) that is open on the Thursday of thanksgiving? 5 of us are coming down for the weekend and have most of our agenda set but since most everything is closed thought it would be good to ask for suggestions.

OpenTable has 10 spots in Philadelphia (city limits) listed so far as open for Thanksgiving. http://bit.ly/16OGUDt

Of those, the best beer options are probably at London Grill followed by Bridget Foy's.

I think if you just search on Open Table for the date you will see more choices that appear to be available (though it could be that they are closed but have not thought to update their availability). Farmers' Cabinet (not a place I support but YMMV) and Eulogy are listed. I like The Corner (at least a couple of craft selections) but have never had a meal there. Never been to Twisted Tail but I think they have craft beer (not sure). Parc is not a beer place but is a place with some nice craft selections and really good food when we visited last.

Hotel restaurants are a good option. We have had craft beer at XIX which has killer food.

So we made reservations two years ago at Eulogy via open table and showed up only to find the place closed...this time around if we go that route I will make sure to actually contact the place as well as reserve but was hoping people knew for sure of a specific place...still will check out some of those places and maybe follow-up.

PS: we are staying downtown not near Capones.

A bunch of the area food blogs (PhillyMag/Foobooz, Eater, Insider on Philly.com, etc.) usually put out "open for Thanksgiving" restaurant lists about a week or so before as well.

Love the downtown disclaimer for Capones. Might want add Tired Hands and Pinocchio's to the disclaimer.

Sweet - thanks for the heads up and will look into it. Will also check out some of the magazine articles that were suggested and see what I can find.

Very true - but the reason for the trip is Capones on Black Friday and a couple people who messaged me suggested places outside of the city so I thought mentioning where I was staying was a good idea

So I may be webtarded by can't find any recent blogs/lists for places that are open in Philly this Thursday. Thought I would bump this to the top again to see if anyone else had any suggestions for where to eat on Thursday night in downtown Philly - ideally not an actual thanksgiving type meal and I have sorta given up on a beer destination - so any just plain old good places to eat? Open to pretty much anything and imagine we have a better chance of non-thanksgiving type fair at a non-american type restaurant.

    Thoughts?

Last year, this site had a hashtag for Thanksgiving and Christmas openings. Don't see one yet for this year but keep checking.

Otherwise, hotel restaurants would seem like your best bet, or perhaps Chinatown.

Like the idea of Chinatown and will keep my eye on the link. Thanks.

Nothing posted yet, foobooz or phillyeater, but keep checking. I know for a fact SouthPhilly Tap Room and P.O.P.E will be open, usually after 5-6PM.
