Check this thread out (started before the "Bad Trader Alert"): http://beeradvocate.com/community/threads/fresh-furious.15570/ I think this speaks to Shawn's character. I don't even know the guy, but it seems that someone went overboard in starting a bad trader thread about him before allowing him to resolve the situation (that was due to a lack of pre-trade clarification on both ends of the trade, IMHO). Let's all show some grace and allow someone to resolve a situation before putting someone's reputation on the line. Cheers!
note also that the bad trader thread is filled with not-even-interested parties agreeing that his behavior was far from "bad trader alert" material. good to make this thread in response to last, since some people may only remember the topic title.
What the hell? Shawn is not a bad trader... I think that was a little harsh to call someone out on that. Besides everyone knows Furious doesn't go bad or lose any of its hop profile, DUH
While I obviously agree that the bad trader alert thread was a bad idea, this one is too, nobody knows the whole story.
given only the poster of the bad trader alert thread's side of the story, i know it was unwarranted to post the thread. adding to it the fact that the "bad trader" in question is going about the easy* task of getting fresher furious to him, i'd say it's pretty cut and dry... * re: ease of getting fresh surly furious, i've never even seen surly in a store given where i live, and i'm confident that i could get a fresh 4pk to someone if i had to, with the help of generous past trading partners. we're not talking about a brewery-only one-off here...
While I agree that no one knows the whole story, I still fee that it was necessary to show that Shawn is not the typical "Bad Trader." When I see a bad trader alert thread, I immediately think of the people who don't send anything. Shawn's attempt to obtain fresh Furious shows that he is trying to make it right; the fact that he started the thread before the BA trader alert went up exposes the alert as premature. I am not, by any means, trying to assassinate the character of the BA trader alert OP; he was probably (and in his mind, rightfully) upset with getting something he did not expect. My intent with this is to keep someone from going down as a bad trader to those who don't bother to open the thread and see that this was, more than likely, an honest misunderstanding. I am also trying to make sure people realize that putting up a thread like that without waiting for the dust to settle can cause serious harm to a fellow BA's reputation.
