I've seen them lately at discount prices (Halloween and all) at a local World Market, but have been hesitant about trying them because I'm not familiar with the brewery, which is Mexican I believe. Are any of them worth trying? The blonde ale in particular has peaked my interest...

    They are OK,

Nothing special but not bad for a Mexican brewery!! I liked their DOA IPA (malty ipa) queen of the night pale ale, and their ferryman porter.

Handsome labels, lame beer - go ahead and try them.

Their doa ipa was okay, worth a try but not a whole sixer imo

Corona ruined the whole Made in Mexico thing for me.

Yup, nothing good could possibly come out of that God-forsaken land
Negra modelo is a good vienna lager. The Amber Dos Equis is decent, too.
Stay away from New Mexican stuff, too. That Elevated IPA from La Cumbre is just Corona in a pretty can.

I guess every beer made in the USA has been a grand slam for you. Lucky devil.

I didn't like them at all. A generic line of faux craft with a fancy label.

I just picked one of these up today because I thought the bottle cap was cool (I collect bottle caps). It was an orange cap with a skull. The label says it was made by Cervecera Mexicana S.A., which also makes Mexicali beer and Red Pig. That being said, I am not expecting much, but it is worth the try.

I bought the bottles with the best labels. I am saving the bottles and bottle caps as they are quite attractive. As for the beer, it was quite terrible. I actually drain poured the pale ale as it tasted of soap.

The only Dia de Los Muertos beer for me is Freetail's La Muerta.

That's quite a strong opinion. I hope you're referring only to beer.

I was just hoping he could find me some good Mexican beers, or else I may have had a point there.
So far he says Negra Modelo (scores a 23) and Dos Equis Amber (scores a 13). Im willing to listening about any other fine Mexican examples. We do get Aztec in MD so.. anything else?

No worries! My comment wasn't directed at you. Mexico has unfavorable beer, I know. I like Noche Buena, that's Mexico's Christmas brew. I haven't had anything "well crafted" outside of that, and even that is suspect. My wife is Mexican so when someone says that nothing good comes from that God-forsaken country, I take it personal.

This is like saying Budweiser ruined The whole U.S. Beer thing for me!! Mexico has a few notable craft breweries producing great beer. Hazmela Rusa an imperial Russian Stout by La Chingoneria won Gold at the 2012 World Beer Cup in the chocolate category.

I have tried the porter and I thought it was pretty tasty. Worth a try for sure. Cheers.
