Far from a Pils expert, but the latest date on the Olde Mecklenburg Pils was as good as I've ever had. Wow, creamy, great head retention, non filling, very smooth. Hard to imagine there's a better one. I'm guessing fresh is the key, probably much more so than some of the great German brews.

Not any imperial pilsners, that's for sure.

This is the most recent pilsner I've had. Short's The Curl. I liked it enough that I'm seeking out more pilsners to try out.

I'd easily trade for JA brews too, really excellent.

I second this. Noble Pils is a close second.

Victory Prima Pils is awesome. Here in Mn we have a brewery called August Schells who make an incredibly good pils, it's called Schells Pils. For me, a nice hoppy pils is hard to beat.

New Glarus Hometown Blonde was the best Pilsner I've ever had. The one they replaced it with, Edel Pils, was quite underwhelming in comparison, though still a good beer. Their Two Women is good as well, though nothing earth-shattering. Great Lakes Wright Pils is good, though not great. Victory's Prima Pils is more of a hopped-up version of the style, and so is not a very good example (though it is a fantastic beer). Bitburger is good, but I think it's more of a nostalgic choice for me rather than being actually great.

My favorite is Scrimshaw, so far, but as far as "examples" go, Pilsner Urquell is also a must (though, not as good as Scrimshaw).

For those who love pilsners and in the trading game. Rocky point artisan brewers in rocky point ny make killer lagers. They are a one barrel nano so no distribution beyond long island. If in the area their lagers are a must try

I love Victory Prima Pils, and Troegs Sunshine Pils.

Sixpoint The Crisp, Sly Fox Pikeland Pils, and Sam Adams Noble Pils are all ones that I really enjoy too.
