What do you make of this? It's obvious that they're trying to come off as "crafty", and I have to wonder how effective it is.

    TrackYourBud.com ... what the.

Interesting marketing strategy I suppose.....ultimately though I don't envision the people I know that drink Bud 1. caring who brewed their beer 2. feeling the need to track their beer.

At first, I hesitated to buy Jai Alai because I couldn't meet the brewer. And there wasn't a born-on date.

    But whatever.

The brewmasters are actually very good at what they're doing. They just happen to be making flavorless AAL's for the unwashed masses.

They're not trying to "come off as crafty", just going with the same style of advertising as many big companies from many different fields have gone with in the past: "Look at our workers work! They love what they do and take great pride in it.... so go buy our beer!" Simple advertising.

    Nada to see hur.

It would have been even MORE effective to show the brewmaster pouring a giant plastic barrel full of rice syrup into the wort in place of that expensive malted barley stuff.

I recall Bud once had a commercial that said... remember we were once a micro brewery too

Is it me or does trackyourbud.com sound like an offshoot of Silk Road?

It really fits with Bud's previous "serious" ads. They're demonstrating care for the brand, attention to detail and capitalizing of their history with all of the visuals of the flagship brewery and the mosaic tile logo.

Seriously though, would any of you be interested in a track my beer app for your favorite craft brands? I think it would be kind of cool, but the novelty would wear off pretty quick. Just give me a bottled on date.

Completely agree with this, except the interesting part. It's a stupid marketing strategy, they need to stick to getting the underage market.

I DVR my TV and FF on commercials, I never seen it. Nor did I watch your post. BUD IMHO is the worse beer ever made. In fact I do not think its really beer.:grimacing::grinning:

That said I think it takes great skill to make that crap the same every day for a hundred years!

Psht, tracking? Guys, Miller has a new can. A new CAN. With VENTS! That's almost as good as when Coors made their bottles turn blue. I mean, before the color changing cans I had no way to tell whether a beer was cold or not. None of my four senses deliver me that kind of information.

I'm not too impressed with these craft beers though, with their stupid 'Tastes good' gimmick.

Anheuser Busch employee here. I know it's popular to bash on Anheuser Busch, Miller Coors, etc. in these forums, but if you guys don't mind I'll share an opinion.

I've worked in and been closely involved with craft breweries in the pacific northwest before going to work for Anheuser Busch. I have the utmost respect for the craft brewers and great affection for their beers. There's something you need to realize - the brewers at AB are also great people. They are extremely good at what they do and any one of them could step into a craft brewery and make world class beers in any style. Some of our brewers have actually done that, like Mitch Steele at Stone.

It would be good to realize what you actually don't care for is the light american lager style. The same brewers that make that style you don't care for also make other styles of beer. Our Brewmaster in Baldwinsville brewed the IPA that won the gold medal recently. If you think it's more important to support local guys, I can respect that.

The point of that commercial was to provide a contrast from the typical funny ads shown during Monday night football with something more serious. Those are the actual people who take brewing very seriously and enjoy it. I've met these people, and I have every bit as much respect for them as I do for the rock stars of the craft world in terms of knowledge, passion, and skill.

I get that most of you don't like the American Adjunct Lager style. That's fine. It's not my favorite either. But these people are great brewers.
