Finally got a day off so I will start this off the right way. It is my first Surly Darkness. I felt like using my new glass as well. Needless to say this is worth the hype. It will be a great week of stouts with my first BCBS and BCBCS arriving

Good morning to all of you! It is night here in China and I am about to go to bed. I found this Damburger Export at a local import store: Wal-Mart. It is a Belgium lager. Not my type of beer to drink during the colder months, but I am in China and I have to take what I can get!

Another cool, wet, and windy morning calls for something robust. Tasting magnificent with nearly a year on it. Hang in there gang, the weekend is in sight!

Did a side by side (by side?) of three BBA Scotch ales last night with my roommate and another buddy. [IMG]
Two of us voted #1-Founders with a close #2-Tyranena and a far behind #3- for Central Waters.
My room mate who is just getting into craft voted #1-Tyranena #2- Founders and a "wish I took a picture of his face after tasting" #3- Central Waters. Cheers!

Two from 2 different bars last night, courtesy of grandma watching the little one. Top one is Voodoo PVW Big Black...an outstanding BA stout made better with the rarity factor. The bottom is the Allagash PNC Broken Elevator, an excellent and unique sour.

It is as awesome as the bottle. I wish I had all of the previous years' bottles because the different artwork is so cool.

Not too long ago, a BA (I forgot exactly who) posted a cool picture of all the Stone Anniversary Ale bottles. I would imagine the picture you're contemplating would be just as good!

Totally agree about having a year on FIS. Cracked one open at a recent tasting at my place, and without a doubt it was one of the highlights of the evening. I was blown away by how good it was with about a year under its belt; to my brother and I it bested the 2012 versions of Expedition, PtF, Narwhal and Ten Fidy by a wide margin that night. And as a guy who has usually found fresh FIS to just be "pretty decent", this was quite a revelation. Definitely looking forward to putting a few more away when this year's batch gets released.

Just when you thought it was safe to drink beer . . . this happens! Thank you Jay O'Rear for one of the best beers I have ever had. Damn! Cheers BA! Alpine Nelson.

This beer is stellar. It's approach to the palate is lightness and grace. it dares you to taste it it's so light and then it hits you with an epic hop character that has every taste and aspect of hops. From grass, to herbal pungency, juicy fruits, to a dry white wine like finesse. This finishes lightly dry and with much aplomb. Sublime. [IMG]

Nailed two of my wants. BBPt5 was good, not as good as its hype, but the CA Brandy Huna was absolutely amazing. Cheers!
