    I know, I know
    maple bacon donut beer
wrong on so many levels and I deep down realise it will taste godawful
but I want it like Smeagol wants the ring
perhaps it's a fetish beer or guilty pleasure ale.

Yesterday: Tetley Bitter, Guinness, Moorhouse's Black Cat mild, John Smith's Extra Smooth (yuck), San Miguel, Guinness.

Also ordered a pint of Copper Dragon Golden Pippin, but it was undrinkable and I sent it back.

Ha, I've had it before and it was OK, but this was disgustingly sour. Should have stuck to keg in that pub.

Had some John Smith's on cask a while back, though not the best beer in the world it was a decent enough pint and comparing it to smooth shows what kegging does to beer.

And pasteurization. And nitrogen. So not really (just) kegging.

Fair enough.Add filtration to the list. But I didn't do this to my homebrews and they all ended up losing layers of complexity once kegged or bottled.Enough to make me give up. Anybody want to buy a full mash brewing setup?

Put it in a little barrel and drink it quickly?

I've heard the cask version is better but I've not had it. For whatever reason I find Extra Smooth really unpleasant, much worse than draught Guinness which is the only other nitrokeg beer I ever drink.

I've just realised that I've been a member of BA for exactly 3 years today! So it seems fitting that I'm about to pen my 1000th review.

Number 1000 deserves a classic, so Cantillon Gueuze it is....

Lats night's trip to pick up Rogue's Voodoo Maple & Bacon Donut went just slightly awry

Stopped off first at the Manchester City Centre Prinkworks Bier keller
where 2 pints steins of the Haus Bier where slightly malty and slightly wheaty
and slightly too tempting at £3.60 each with the B.O.G.O.F offer
this lead to a later than expected departure to travel by train to Macclesfield centre
and the nearly opened artisan beer shop - Brewtique
by the time I had arrived had just closed
BUT it's owner being so devoted to the cause of good ale returned to his shop to serve me

And how glad I was he did, not only a fantastic range of brews but really competetive prices
if you can get to Macclesfield Brewtique is well worth a look

First proper beer session in ages tonight.
Old bottle of Siren Soundwave - still quite nice
Buxton jacob's ladder - a cracker at 2.7%, really fruity
Partizan FES - a yummy and boozy impy
Kernel 4C IPA - excellent as ever
