I hesitate to even bring this up, but any opinions of this? I'm mildly curious about the gingerbread but also about the Rounder and the Short Straw. My brother once brought some winter abbey over, and despite my expectations I thought it wasn't half bad.

I actually really dug Short Straw. Rounder I wasn't crazy about, but it was a nicely drinkable "belgian" pale.

A friend of mine came over with a Blue Moon variety 12 that had Rounder, a pumpkin one, Short Straw and another one. I really didn't care for any of them. The Short Straw was interesting because it's like a Flanders Red Ale, but I still didn't like it enough to want another one.

Short Straw isn't too bad, Rounder isn't my style so I never drink it when getting the variety packs. I'll probably buy the Winter pack soon, to try the Gingerbread one, but when I had the Autumnal variety box, I thought the Caramel Spiced Ale was a major disappointment.

Blue Moon sucks all around, sorry. Somebody has to say it. Plus they're owned by MillerCoors. I avoid at all cost.

If my choice were between Blue Moon and straight BMC stuff, I wouldn't mind having Blue Moon in that circumstance. It's okay. It has happened many, many times after a round of golf. Blue Moon/Fat Tire would be the best beer option at the clubhouse grill.

Their special release last year was a cinnamon ale and I'm not a big fan of cinnamon and it's my favorite beer from blue moon.

I actually remember liking Winter Abbey Ale. With the glut of fantastic beer out now, it's certainly nowhere near my first choice anymore, but it doesn't suck.

and to think there was an entire thread dedicated to investigating the definition of "snob" haha

How is it snobbish to say that their beer sucks? It does. Everything is too sweet. I get that people have different tastes and pallets, and it's pretty cheap and non-beer fans like some of it. Great. To my taste buds, the beer is terrible. So is the company. I'd much rather support a small and/or local brewery. That's not snobbish - that's caring about the quality and taste of the beer I drink, and the quality of the people making and selling it.

You can make the point that I don't need to post in this thread. That's fine. But you didn't make that point. I didn't have to and didn't give the OP any value. But I felt like doing so because I have a strong opinion on the brewery. Sorry.

we just got them in and i guarentee that they will sit just like last time till we 9.99 em per case. blue moon never seems to do well. the people that are into craft beer don't want it because of the millercoors ownership, and the people that drink bmc either think its too fancy, or if they have tried it are put off by the price. that being said i did enjoy the short straw

I'll be picking this one up, and I love to see any brewery offering more diverse beers - even if that brewery happens to be noncraft and/or macro.

There's a lot to be said about value and the ability of a variety pack with a familiar brand to broaden consumers' awareness of beer styles.

Rounder and Short Straw were also in the summer and fall packs. MillerCoors running out of fresh ideas maybe.

I don't think Blue Moon is bad. I can drink them all throughout the summer. Their Winter Abbey Ale is decent. I kinda remember liking Rounder, but don't remember Short Straw at all. I'm not 'above it'.

    Give it a shot.

I won't be picking any up. I really dislike Blue Moon. Everything they do is mediocre or worse, and I just can't justify spending money that could be spent on other, better beer. I've had Rounder and Short Straw from a friend's Autumn pack, and while they weren't undrinkable, they weren't good either.

Everyone is entitled to drink what they want, but I choose to buy better examples of the styles Blue Moon tried to make here, simply because I can't afford to waste money on what I know will be less than average beer, and no, I don't think that's snobby.

I've had Rounder and Short Straw. Both decent enough.

I have nothing against Blue Moon (besides the whole faux craft thing). The beer is easy drinking, and better than most of your BMC offerings.
