Me and the lady are heading out to Hershey today and will be staying the night. I just thought I would ask my fellow BA'S about eateries bars and bottle shops that would be good to stop into while in town. I will definitely be visiting Troegs while we're there but being from Maryland I'm hoping to find a place to buy some bottles since PA has different distribution than us. Thanks everyone!
I posted a similar thread over the summer. http://beeradvocate.com/community/threads/hershey-harrisburg-weekend.108495/
Thank you, I didn't see that thread. Any other suggestions of places that are in the town of Hershey. I don't really plan on traveling outside of the area while we're there.
Go to Treogs, its right next to hershey park, and you can get Splinter Brown on site only, great sour
If you're willing to drive 40 mins to Lancaster, you could also check out a few other breweries. Lancaster Brewing Co. and Spring House Brewing Co. both have places in the city. Plus there are a few bottle shops in Lancaster as well.
For bottle shops, the best in the Hershey area is the Brass Rail in Campbelltown, about 10 minutes from Hershey. Check it out if you have time. Should definitely be worth your while.
Also the Warwick Hotel in Hummelstown; 4 1/2 miles southwest and 10 minutes. Chris is doing a great job with the taps.
Agreed: Troegs and the Warwick Hotel are great stops. Fenicci's is a fun place with a couple decent beers on hand, but not a beer place overall. Devon is a fantastic seafood place.
There is also a Lancaster Brewing in Harrisburg, plus Appalachian Brewing... while he'd miss Spring House, he did say he doesn't plan to travel far out of town. Brass Rail is overrated in my opinion. Old beer and high prices. Definitely hit up Troegs, and if you feel like driving 20 minutes, go to Pizza Boy in Enola, PA.
Thank you everyone for the advice! Ended up going to the brass rail, wasn't too bad. It was rely just nice to see Founders and Bells since I don't get their distro down here in Maryland. Picked up some Curmudgean and Expedition stout. Was a little bummed that I wasn't allowed to buy the backwoods bastard because I wasn't part of the " VIP" club. Hit up Troges the following day, far and away the nicest brewery I have ever been too. Did a flight of a bunch of stuff including the scratch mushroom ale, was actually pretty good. Thanks again everyone for the heads up!
No, I almost did but I was by myself at troegs and didn't think I could down the whole bottle on my own lol
