I don't know. Mild Month (May) is worthwhile though, I think, as it promotes an endangered beer style.

Who exactly are the people who decide for all of us what sort of day it is going to be ?

Yes, but that is arranged properly by a large organisation. We visit pubs and ask them to stock a cask mild , advertise and promote the end.It takes a lot of preparation, beginning in February and isn't the same thing as proclaiming a National ??? Day.

I am on a fbook group that does "Saison Sundays". There's no real point to it, just like Nat'l Stout or IPA day, other than to drink beer.

Not that you need a reason, but now there is one!

Though I participate in IPA Day and Stout Day, I mostly just appreciate the extra days off work.

Think of it as a "Hallmark (untappd) Holiday" for beer.

Stout Day and IPA Day were created so we can figure out who wear panties that easily get knotted into a bunch.

IPA day is more of a holiday to me than Columbus Day.

You didn't comprehend the whole post, did you? Why were these specific dates chosen to be IPA Day, or Stout Day? I can't find a connection between the two points other than some media personality decided to add a # to IPADay, which anybody with a Twitter account could do any day they like.

I don't know about Stout Day, but IPA Day specifically marks the birthday of the inventor of the IPA, James K. Ipa.

On IPA day, I went to a local brewery, drank some good beer with good people. On Stout Day, I had some awesome people over to my house and drank some awesome beer. I don't see the problem. If I'm a sheep just following the herd, so be it. Good times. Good excuses.

There is an International or National Day for just about everything under the sun. Not sure what the big deal is and if it's worth being too upset over.

Imbibing in a style on the "day" allows me to feel a sense of belonging, or being a part of a movement. But if I miss it, too bad. I was at a local pub yesterday and decided I would have a Fat Dog Oatmeal Stout from Stoudt's brewery in Adamstown, PA. Carol Stoudt, the first recognized female microbrewer, posted on facebook and reminded me of the event, so my choice was fitting. But really, it's just that sense of being a part of something much bigger than myself. Just plain fun, with no harm done.
