I wasn't impressed when I visited Hess about a year ago. Will definitely check out their new spot in NP when I'm back in SD.

Definitely Alpine Beer Co. Nelson, Duet, Pure Hoppiness, Ungly, Exponential, and Bad Boy.

    Honorable mention Green Flash.

Gotta say that Stone takes this. While they may not make the "best" IPA, they make a pretty damn good line up. Not only that, but something needs to be said about how accessible they are. Ya HT, ZD, Surly, etc are incredible (I have multiple orgasms drinking those lovely buggers), I can walk down to my local liquor store and find Ruinten, Ruination, IPA, and Anniversary. Furthermore, the variations between the profile of those IPAs disallows redundancy.

All in all though... that's a damn hard question to answer lol. We beer lovers are blessed with an array of bad ass breweries that produce some incredible IPAs

I'm adding Kern River to my previous answer. 5th Anniversary was amazing.

HF makes a slew of outstanding hoppy beers. Alpine makes a trio of brews that I think are outstanding, I've only had Duet/Pure Hoppiness/Nelson. I like Stone Enjoy by Series, and their Anniversary brews, Self Righteous is the only Black IPA that I've tried that is actually very good, funny enough I hate their regular IPA. Lawsons makes outstanding Hoppy beers, Russian River, really there are more than a few who do it right.

I love GF, Stone, 3floyds, Founders, and all the heavy hitters. But IPA goes, hands down, to Bell's. 2hearted, Hopslam, and the Oracle. All 3 in my top 25 beers. Hopslam easily top 3.

Sad to see no love for The Kernel. Whichever hop magician writes up the recipes there, he does a damn fine job. Their single hops are to die for and are a real masterclass for any other European breweries that only come up with fairly sad attempts really.

Available to me, I would say Odell.

Odell IPA, Myrcenary IIPA, and Mountain Standard Black IPA are all world class IMHO. And 2 out of the 3 are easily available year-round!
