Next up is a beer that really impressed the hell out of me, and I'm something of a tough grader: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/12959/47572/?ba=beertunes . One of the greatest guitar players I've been fortunate enough to see live is David Grier. Check him out when he comes to your area, he tells a great story about how this song came to be:

This one has been in NY for awhile now and I finally got around to trying it. Solid. Now I must attend to an early thanksgiving-esque dinner of homemade pork stuffing rolled into seasoned chicken. Finished this bottle on an empty stomach and I can't fucking wait! Hope everyone has a good week. Cheers!

Edit: Cavedave, what do you mean when you say Larry Bell had a NY "thing"?

    Why I oughta...

    New Oatmeal/Imperial Stout Sunday

Happy NBS everyone! Here's the review of my first new beer of the day, Hoppin' Frog Cleveland Crusher Oatmeal Imperial Stout. http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/14879/86705/?ba=bluejacket74

I guess it's a variation of BORIS, not quite as good as BORIS but it's still a tasty brew. I should have another new beer review or 2 on here in a while.

    New Wet Sunday
    Harvest Ale by Founders

I'm trying to get caught up on Walking Dead to go meet up with some friends to watch the new episode. This will be the first time I've ever seen it before it came out on netflix. Neither here nor there, just something I just realized. It was good to get a solid win over a team that was very good very recently even if they're not very good at this point instead of just squeaking by bad teams the last couple of weeks, but especially considering we're still missing 60% of our O-line, our top two receivers, and several key cogs on defense, 33-10 even over a banged up Atlanta squad is an encouraging day.

As for the Harvest: Grozet earlier was one I thought lightly of and which pleasantly surprised me. Harvest Ale was one for which I had sky high expectations, but did not completely live up to such lofty hopes. It is a very good beer, don't get me wrong. I had just built it up too high in my mind.

You should try Point Brewery Beyond the Pale if you like Galaxy hops.

    Greetings:

There was another thread this weekend on the relative merits of porters, so why not trot out a porter for NBS? And this one has a military theme, so being a USAF veteran myself, it seems appropriate on many levels for the Veteran's Day weekend.

Pacemaker Porter from Flyers Restaurant and Brewery of Oak Harbor, WA. home of the Whidbey Naval Air Station.

    http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/14503/38112/?ba=RJLarse

It's a decent porter, sessionable at 5.5% ABV which was a contentious point in the aforementioned porter thread, but I thought a little strong on the charcoal, coffee and chocolate flavors. I'd have preferred milder flavors in a porter. But this one is good.

Cloudy and cool here in the great northwest, with temps in the low 50's. I burned a bunch of yard waste after the Seahawk game. Not necessarily environmentally correct, but it's how we roll in these rural areas. And all the trees and vegetation growing on my little acre must do something positive for the environment, so a little occasional burning ought to be in order?

To all the vets out there, thank you for your service.

    Happy Trails!

    New IPA

Evening all. Wrapping up a great weekend in West MI. Fall has definitely set in with crisp temps paired with blue skies and some wicked wind. I got a ton of yardwork done yesterday, so today was pretty relaxing. My wife and I woke up to a lively bunch of kiddos. We made a big breakfast, hit The Y for a decent workout, then back home to unwind with a new brew.

I'm working my way through the last of the leftovers from a party. While I miss the porter, this is a decent addition to the Winter Pack.

I love that beer. Sometimes a touch too roasty for me, depending how my palate is that day, but I think it's a great brew. One that compares favorably with any regular American Porter out there.

Another from the box o'goodies I recently received. A brew that compares very well to of the only 2 beers I've given all 5's to in my reviews:http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/6980/34564/?ba=beertunes . For some reason, this song was bouncing around my head when I woke up today. And I'm happy it was:

Here's my last new beer review of today, Guinness Red Harvest Stout: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/209/98289/?ba=bluejacket74

I thought it was average. I'm a fan of Guinness, but this brew didn't do much for me at all. I'll try and post my pics to the What Are You Drinking Now thread later. Happy NBS everyone!

Hey again everyone, and Matt, happy birthday to your son! It's been a great weekend full of great NEW beers for me (Zombie Dust anyone?).

As I enjoy the Saints game, I took a break from NOLA beers and tried a new one for me from Lazy Magnolia. If you've followed my posts, my NBS often includes Lazy Mag. A really solid IPA here worth a try:

    New American Stout Sunday

    Greetings NBS from Southern CT-

Another great fall weekend as the weather continues to cool off. A good combo of activities this weekend including some good ol' fam time, helping the in-laws at their house before winter and getting some BS stuff done at home as well. Even squeezed in some good outdoor exercise and the evenings were perfect for a fire and some hearty beers as my body retreats into hibernation.

While I am not a viewer of Game of Thrones I am a consumer of Ommegang's offerings, so I tried this tonight:

    http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/42/103453/?ba=CHADMC3

Although listed as an American Stout I was really expecting something a bit more Belgian (think Allagash Black) but not the case.

Happy NBTS (New Belgian Triple Sunday)
Exit 4, from Flying Fish. I'm not huge on yeasty belgians. But this one was quite good. Malt brings some breadiness and there is some coriander meets honey that is quite nice.

Remains a favorite of mine and quite underrated. In fact Boulevard in general only seems to know how to spin great beer.

I've only tried a few from them, but they were all top notch. Definitely on my radar now.
