    Hello all.

Was wondering what is out there for American Brown Ales that are brewed with coffee. I already consulted the top 50 American brown Ale list on BA and found a few interesting brews! I am looking for any suggestions of awesome american brown ales that are possibly under the radar or not on the list! Or if they are on the top 50 American Brown Ale list let me know if I should really seek that one out & why you think so! I am not a huge fan of hoppy American Brown Ales. Also any other unique brewing adjuncts like pecans or maple syrup or cocoa nibs, etc. Just curious to see what other awesome American Brown Ales are out there waiting to be discovered! Discuss!!!!

    Cheers!

I'm guessing by your avatar that you're closer to the top of IL, but if you're ever around St. Louis- 4 Hands' Cast Iron Oatmeal Brown is heavy on the coffee flavors

Yeah, I saw that one on the shelf a long time ago and was not smart enough to buy a bottle when it was fresh!

Based on what you described, DFH Indian Brown Ale fits the bill.. it has coffee notes and some hops.. it's not traditional for the style and is more of a hybrid, but it's one of my all-time faves.. I second Rogue Hazelnut Brown Nectar too, it's world-class as well..

No coffee in it but Upslope's Brown is fantastic for a malt-forward brown ale. Given the amount of reviews, I would definitely consider it under the radar.

I have had Legend Brown, Tumbler, and the seasonal hazelnut by Sam Adams. I really enjoyed the hazelnut flavor in the Sam Adams Fall sampler. I say look for anything hazelnut. I get your dilemma here, hazelnut infused browns are hard to find in my area.

Had a few Upslope beers, but not the brown. Really enjoyed the Angel Weiss that Upsloe brews. That sounds good!

I'm always blown away by Pig's Ear Brown Ale from the guys at Woodstock Inn Brewery out of Woodstock, NH. It's not a big, huge beer, no. But what it's got is massive amount of flavor and is absolutely drinkable as all hell! I don't think it's brewed with coffee, so I appoligze on my recommendation in that aspect. But I do think it's a highly underrated beer. Don't tell Portsmouth Brewery this, but I think the Pig's Ear is one of the best brews out of New Hampshire :grinning:. Get some now if you can in your area!
