    Front porch in the rocking chair. Before beer took over, I used to love it when cold weather came around. Now its kind of sad. The couch just isn't the same.

    I've been trying to find the time to get out and go to some good craft bars, so far I LOVED Toronado. Wish more were like it. Keene Idea + Le Terroir on tap for 5$ each, ridiculous. But it's an hour drive to get there.

    Which place do you frequent the most? What do they usually serve at the bars you like best?

    Canal Park Brewing Company and Fitger's brew house. Both are minutes from my house and they brew a lot of great beers. Wish I lived in the cities so I could go to the Surly tap room a lot.

    Lokal in Miami. Great local selection plus some hidden gems if you ask.

    The Henry Street Taproom or Merry Monk's on Henry St. in Saratoga Springs, NY. UNREAL rotating beer lists on tap and bottle. They're right next door to each other, and both have fantastic food as well!!! Also "The Local" in Saratoga Springs... awesome food, mug club, really nice rotating tap and bottle list. All with-in 10 mins from home!!!

    There's a dive I frequent pretty often which carries a limited Craft selection (plus Special Export silos), and another neighborhood bar with an even larger selection of Craft and specialty (and Hamm's always on tap!) that I like for their food (meatloaf sandwich!), atmosphere, great bartenders... and it's even stumbling-distance to the most high class Gastropub in the state. :sunglasses:

    The closest (but not quite stumbling distance to home) bar in my neighborhood is an old-school bar with an atmosphere that I like a lot, but they've been an "Irish Pub" for a while, so while they may have some great taps, their prices keep me from being a regular. :slight_frown:

    In chicago, Local Option and Northdown usually have the best beer, too bad their prices and service are pretty shitty. Out in the suburbs theres Yard House, which has (usually) very nice service and something like 150 taps, though nothing ever quite THAT rare. Its a shame that the best beers have to come with the biggest attitude.

    There IS a guy at Local Option thats been awesome everytime though, forget his name, but hes got a hearty beard. Try to get him as your server if you're ever there. The two women that work there? terrible. attitude and completely mess up your order, and then look at you blankly when you point it out to them as if theyre daring you to request they change the order.

    Hands down, the best bar i've been to is Niche in Geneva, IL. The place has an absolute wall of bourbons and their beer list in terms of =(beers i want to drink)/(beers they have) is probably the best in the midwest. Not to mention: no TVs, insane food, a renowned sommelier and a weekly bottleshare. Yeah. that place delivers.

    I do not work for Niche, I'm just a passionate regular there.

    If you are in San Diego check out hamiltons, the neighborhood, small bar, triple crown, the harp, monkey paw, or just stay on thirtieth street and have the most epic pub crawl ever.

    You said you are an hour say which I'm guessing is up north or else you are in Mexico! Soo if you are up north check out, pizza port, iron fire, Encinitas ale house, something taproom, and ironfist!

    If you are talking about tornodo in SF check out, magnolia, and 21st amendment

    If you are an hour south of there check out blue line!

    Now my personal favorite is hamiltons! Cheers!

    The Prancing Pony, but if you want to drink your fancy ales and drink them by the flagon well the only brew for the brave and true comes from the Green Dragon. (FYI try their brown ale)

    Either my man chair or the pub a few blocks down. The man chair i found by the dumpster at my old apartment. It has a couple tears in the upholstery and it took a couple months for the smell to go away. The pub is a working class joint with only 3 or 4 crafts on tap at a time but the people and food are great.

    I love them both.

    Several pubs have that "feel good" factor and I judge a pub on how I feel when I go in.It's a seasonal thing though, a pint of Adnam's in a beer garden overlooking the sea in the summer, sitting with a glass of something nice in front of a roaring log fire in the winter.Watching a cricket match from a pub near the village green. Sitting in a cave hewn from the rock perhaps a thousand years ago in the Trip to Jerusalem.Horses for courses and all superb in their own right including selling well kept beer.
    A lovely snug pub in a delightful village;
    [IMG]
    Or the pub which is only a few minutes walk from my home;
    [IMG]
    Or on the coast;
    [IMG]
    Or why not just go to the brewery;
    [IMG]
    for some of this;
    [IMG]
    And what about the Marquis;
    [IMG]
    Simply impossible to state an absolute favourite

    As an afterthought, none of my favourite watering holes have more than a few beers on the bar. Simply a matter of ambience and quality over quantity .

    In THE A/C'ed Florida room, usually, or patio when under 80F, or the beach which is 3 blocks away. bars/pub as the last place I like to go. Though I do enjoy Restaurants with nice 10+ draft craft menus. PUB/Bar is not cheap, but if your young its where you go....:grinning:
