Buy your own bar. With that attitude, I'm sure it would sparsely populated...

While I am not big on bars here in the USA. My list is as follows.

Why does as shift change force me to close out my tab?
chairs, why if you want me to pay those prices, do you have to hurt my ass to get it? Real bar chairs with backs, if I am NOT in pain I will drink more.
Music geez, why so loud? You do not like to talk to anyone? and why turn it up at shift change So loud NO one can talk.
#1 bartenders what is the problem chatting with folks about beer? too worried you miss a tip? You have no beer knowledge? you just like the 21 year old blondes, WTF. I go to a pub and I am at the bar I want some craic, lol

The encroaching mentality of sports into craft beer and the stupid need to put screen opportunities showing it on every damn surface. Stay at your sports bar, chief.
Piss poor playlists. Pop punk, and metal over everything else.

I hate to say it but that's how the waitresses have been the last 2 visits to 3 Floyd's. Love the beer, love the food, hate some of the servers.

I've gotten this before as well. Even if I'm paying the pint price and it's a smaller snifter. "We're not serving that in stemmed glassware. Only pints."

I've gotten that more times than I want to think about (I don't always get to pick where we're eating)
When I get that, I'll ask for something from Three Floyd's (whatever comes to mind,) then BCBS. When they say they don't have that, I'll say something like, well, you don't have everything, now do you? What DO you have, so we can save a lot of time. It's inevitable it's Bud, Bud Light, Coors, Coors Light, Miller Light, and Sam and Sam Seasonal.

Being a condescending dick to someone who is bringing you items that you are going to put in your mouth....smart. Not everyone has craft beer on their radar and to those people BMC comprises "everything". Acting ignorant doesn't help how beer folks are viewed.

There are plenty of niche hobbies I'm sure you are not an expert in, and hopefully someone doesn't talk down to and embarrass you when they are brought up.

What's on draft? When I hear the BMC options and nothing else, I ask if they have any craft beer. Usually they don't in the sort of place we're discussing. I just make a sad face at the waitress or waiter and order a soda after that.

Sculpin pricing is not all mark up. At a bar in S.F., Pliny the Elder on tap was $1 cheaper than Sculpin on tap and both are brewed in CA. Sculpin is just plain overpriced.

Biggest pet peeve is not updating tap lists on line. Oftentimes, I pick a place to go or see something on tap I want a growler of based on BeerMenus and too many times, they don't have what was posted. I don't even bother checking actual websites most of the time. They're worse. Sometimes, a keg's just kicked [or so I'm told] but other times, it's not and it's quite annoying.

I'm seriously not trying to be a dick with this question, but I've got to ask, why not just go to bars without live music then? I am sure the number of bars with sports on TV and no music outweighs the number of bars with live music and no sports on TV. Couldn't you go to one of those places? Full disclosure: this a sensitive issue for me, as I played in bands for a long time and saw live venue after live venue close because people weren't interested in bands (yet, everyone regularly listens to artists they love, artists that without venues to play at when they were younger wouldn't have gone anywhere).

Of course if you go to a bar that doubles as a small music venue, you should expect that live music will be played.

However, sometimes you don't know that the bar will have music before you go, or your local bar that never had music to begin with will add music. Or, the place with the best beer selection will have live music 6 nights a week.

I've never been in a band, and I'm sure it sucks when people hate on your act, but I can't stand live music that I'm not there to see. It's always too loud to have a conversation and the band is almost never good enough to watch. I'm a huge music fan, but unless I'm going out to see a particular act, I'd rather listen to the jukebox. I don't want to show up at a pub for a quiet night of craft beer and food and have some PA blasting in my ears halfway through.

This most likely is not my biggest pet peeve, but it's up there. I never even thought to mention it, but it's becoming a problem for me at multiple places. I've actually resorted to ordering Guinness (I don't hate Guinness at all, but it's far from my first choice) at many bars because it's the lowest abv on the menu that's not Bud/Miller/Coors.

Some places shockingly have a fair amount of craft to offer that are within 3 to 5% abv (usually the better beer bars). It's not like I won't drink beer that's >5%, I usually do for my first or second drink, but when I'm there for 4+ hours....well, I need something lower in abv if they want my patronage.

I'm with you 100% on this but would like to add that many places that have live bands just shouldn't. Why? Either the acoustics are lousy, the place isn't big enough for a live band or the band is just plain shitty. And as far as your last statement, it's true - but the times they are a changin'.

Try going to FFF, they blast metal music like its their job. I get that its part of their image, but its not even good music. Then again if they only stuck to good metal they'd have like 2 hours of music on loop all day. Still, I can never go there with my gf anymore :slight_frown:
