Great beer! Value wise it has a way to go. I can buy 2 12ers of Saga for a couple bombers so I'll pass

Wrong thread, boss. Enough with the Saga already! The Saga value thread has been beaten into submission, Randy "Macho Man" Savage- style. Top turn-buckle, baby! Love me some Sue!

I'd rather have 2 bombers of excellence than a bunch of mediocrity. Also, growler fills are only $10 of sue

I don't have a problem with the beer. It's really good. I just live on a budget. Other beers besides Saga fit the bill too. Lots of great beers are a better value, maybe not better but it works for me now. Once the price improves I'm with you until then I have a budget. Or at least the wife says so

The Quad Cities will be getting some Sue; keep an eye out on Facebook to see exactly where/when.

    Here's a couple thoughts:

First, everyone, please stop thread jacking everything with Saga, it's BEER Advocate, not SAGA Advocate.

I'm on a beer budget as well, but rather than just drinking Saga (I actually don't enjoy it at all) I might grab a growler of Sue this weekend, then a six pack of Celebration next week, and so on and so forth. I might not have as much beer weekend to weekend, but it's great to mix it up and try as much as possible. To each there own of course, but how is drinking only Saga any different than only drinking BMC? Saga maybe a better beer, but the blind loyalty is similar.

And here's my snarky comment: Sue and Saga don't belong in the same conversation.

This. 100x times this. While a Civic and Ferrari 458 are both cars, it makes no sense to compare them.

Since when did BA stand for Budget Advocate. Saga is a decent beer, it used to be a great beer when it was called Silver Anniversary, but Summit decided to budget the amount of hops they put in it, thus making it good not great.

Beer Advocate is here for us to talk about and share all things craft beer. I set my beer budget high enough to enjoy great beers like Sue, Dirtwolf, and Abrasive. I will buy and enjoy the occasional Saga or Ranger to allow for the occasional $20 bomber or BCBS 4 pack, but I get more excited for big beers and big flavors as most of BA does. Saga has a place among us, just not every thread about hoppy beers.

Haha yeah, would you go on a car enthusiasts forum and thread jack a Ferrari thread with "while they make great cars, I can get a Civic for way less." Of course not, you're talking to other enthusiasts about a shared hobby.

While I love Wagyu steak on in awhile, it has a long way to go as far as price. Until then, my wife makes me buy horse meat at Aldi.

I prefer the horse meatball at IKEA, the Aldi ones taste more like burro.

I don't understand the constant need by the Budget Beer Police to constantly singing the praises of Saga and reminding the rest of us how much money we are wasting on other beer. Saga! Saga! Saga! I don't need quantity most of the time. If I'm having a gathering that will be populated by mostly those who are not completely tuned into craft beer, it makes a great hoppy option to satiate the masses. That's it.

I will always prefer to enjoy quality over quantity. I more often will choose to enjoy new and different before quantity as well.

If you always want to have a stocked refrigerator and you're a budget conscious shopper, than Saga may be the right for you...

Back to the topic at hand...

Pseudo Sue!!! Pseudo Sue!!! Pseudo Sue!!! Pseudo Sue!!! Pseudo Sue!!! Pseudo Sue!!!

I specifically chose my deer hunting destination this year solely based on its proximity to TG. I was able to shoot the shit with Bob the brewer and enjoyed a couple pints of Sue. Then I brought back a growler of Sue to share with my dad over the weekend. I easily spent more on gas than a 12'er of Saga and didn't think twice about it.

There are very few APA's, IPA's or DIPA's that compare to Pseudo Sue and Saga is definitely not one of them.

This may not be the appropriate place, but is tg still coming to MN in 2014?

I don't despise Saga, or Summit, I just think they were the only local craft option around here for years and they thrived on it. Now that there are "bigger fish" in the lake I don't feel like I HAVE to like them. Decent beer at a fair price, but way better local options now. I'm finished with the Aldi Ass remarks, I swear. But yeah I was in Hudson on Sunday and grabbed some Hop Devil, Tart of Darkness, Brown Shugga, Ten Fidy, Dale's Pale and you know I had to grab a growler of Sue. So fresh and so clean.

I do wish they would switch from the bomber only format soon, I hate bombers, that said I love Sue so I will still grab a bottle, but I would much rather grab a couple of 6ers.

Maybe craft beer isn't for you then. Stick with your Saga.

Well, to be fair, I live on a pretty tight budget myself, but one can still afford craft beer!
