I'm in the same boat. I asked the girl I'm dating if she could handle my problem... She said yes. For now.

Just got back from Maine. Holy shit, I went overboard buying things I can't get here. The car was way more packed on the way home. My wife even joked that the fridge in the place we were staying looked like my beer fridge at home. It was worth it, and my fridge WAS getting low before the trip, so I don't feel guilty. Whadyagonna do?

I'm a mathematician, and I fail to see a problem here.

And then you said..."great, I'm only dating you...for now."

Haha, I guess I should clarify that she didn't say "For now." That's just my pessimism. The plan is to get her hooked. She's addicted to coffee, so my plan is to start with a few FBS. Other suggestions are welcome.

    Alesmith Speedway Stout
Brassiere Dieu de Ciel Peche Mortel
    Williamsburg Alewerks Cafe Royale
Great Divide Espesso Oak Aged Yeti
    Bells Java Stout
    Ballast Point Victory at Sea
    Bourbon County Coffee
Port Brewing Older Viscosity...technically not a stout, but a black barleywine, no coffee note to speak of, but god damn it's tasty...wish it weren't so damn expensive though.

I just had the Peche Mortel the other week. Damn, that was good. Also, I have the Speedway, Espresso Yeti, and Victory at Sea in the basement. If you want to help out with the BCBCS, be my guest.

    Not chasing BCBCS this year.

My wife and I were more impressed with the 8-Wired Batch 31 we split last Xmas Day over the BCBCS we split earlier that day.

    We both prefer BCBS.

If I chase anything this year, it will be Bourbon County Barleywine.

We can stop hunting as soon as someone brews the perfect beer and sells it at a perfect price. C'mon, dammit! What's the holdup?

I've discovered Mint Juleps in Charleston that are far better than anything I've had in N.O. Obsessed with making great ones at home, down side, Bourbon sticks around a while and woozy on Sun mornings. Love my beer, but I need to break it up too.

I thought this said "Beer Overlord" and came in looking for nerdy witticisms, blunt opinions, and good-humored argument.

    I miss the old days.

Anniversary beers and other special release "one shots" (collaboration beers, special barrel aged versions of awesome beers) are my downfall.

Doesn't matter how much beer is already in the fridge, if I see one of these it's on and poppin, because I always feel that I may never get my hands on one again.

If several of these come out in the same week can be quite a hit to the wallet...

You're doing it wrong. Find a girlfriend that drinks craft beer. Cuts your craft beer spending in half AND you are spending money on your girlfriend (as long as you share)

It's the triple threat of old favorites, new releases/one off's and, haven't tried breweries that get so many props in the WBAYDN? forum, that make my eyes bigger than my beer fridge. Add to that equation the fact that not all bottle shops here in Chi-land will let you make mixed six packs. If they do, it's what ever they have on a special rack. That's what made beer hunting at the Midtown, in Nashville, so great! You could actually pull from any six pack and make a mixer. My girlfriend, not a beer fan, actually wasn't bored because she was dangerously involved in seeking out bottles. I say dangerously, only because, the purchase total kept climbing.
I'm not even sure if it's ticking. To me, it's not a question of been there, done that. It's a question of all the deliciousness of styles that's out there. Do I really need to sample them all? The beer world has become an adult candy store, and I, I AM that (50 year old) kid! Hell, yeah! I need to sample them all! Cheers!

With marriage and kids there will never be a "good time" to get into craft beer, just DO IT!!
