Maybe you should post the option for a refund with the disclaimer when post a list.

Well, i guess i have all wrong then. Bomb! wasn't approved. You could have checked before hand yourself on the TABC website before you posted the list. I guess Prairie should have filled out their TABC submission a little earlier. Or maybe you should have talked to the distributor before you posted the list.

Prairie is a young brewery doing exciting things. This is a kick the balls to new brewery trying to make a awesome first impression. I am not speaking for Chase but do you know depressing it had to have to explain to everyone who is disappointed they did not get a chance to try Bomb! instead of talking about how much joy his beer gives him and how good it is. People don't understand how hard they work and what is on the line for a new brewery or what it takes to get a beer from a brewery to glass. I guess that is TABC's fault or the distributor not doing your job for you. Someone might not give PPA a try because they hold a grudge against them about not getting the Bomb!...............Everyone....drink Prairie Artisan....it is fantastic beer.

The Bigfoot and Sisyphus...i know what everyone checked in as but you don't know for sure. You are just going by the invoice. Maybe you are taking two things for granted. I guess you tasted it and you approved.

Bishop's #3 that could have been an easy fix if you looked into it earlier. But i guess that is the distributor's fault right??

The Atrial....guess i had that all wrong too. You dangled that and you had time to make the arrangements before Jester King started selling beer to public. But you didn't. However, you did show some hustle in arranging a pick up for your circle of friends. Nice job. I am sure that comforts everyone.

People walk in to poles or get blind sided because they are not looking at where they are going.

My agenda....i am tired of promoters and bar owners throwing promises out in the air and not being able to back them. It is rude to distributors, breweries and customers. Everyone works to hard to be disappointed by something that is easily preventable. You know how many phone calls we get because people don't trust what someone might say on their website about an event or a beer tapping??? No one has time for that game.

Last thing.....the fact that you have tipped well has nothing to do with this. It is insulting to the profession that your tip would somehow influence a relationship or standard which someone might believe in. Doing it publicly on this website.....it was about time someone had to speak up.

Not saying that it is true in this case, but my experience with distributors is not good. Granted, this is strictly at bottle shops, but I can stand there, hear what the distributor promises, and routinely find out 3 days later that he was unable to keep his promise.

Everyone is allowed their opinion, but damn. thirdeye11, I appreciate all you do and realize the beer list may not be 100% accurate every time.

Personally I feel your point could have been made without being a jerk. BTBF was the best festival north Texas has seen and I had a blast at Brewvolution, even with the 2 missing beers, as Atrial was advised ahead of time it wouldn't be there.

This is pretty malicious and in my opinion unnecessary. I'm not a close friend or buddy of Chad and his group that put Brewvolution on. I met Chad through this website at some point in 2008 or 2009, exchanged beermails with him in which he helped me into the "craft beer world", as he has with countless others. I've only actually seen him face to face 10 or less times in those 4 to 5 years, different crowds/circles, etc. What I know about the guy is that he would not intentionally harm, defraud or "bait and switch" a person with anything beer related. I've known him to give up more than he receives with a lot of beer experiences (Trades, where to find beer, etc.). The guy is stand up with the piece of his life that I know about, craft beer.

Chad, I hope you didn't lose sleep over this. I've been cut pretty deep by a bartender I considered a friend and it sucks. If you have a problem with someone you know, you act like an adult and have a conversation with them face to face.

Matt, I hope you were drinking heavily, medicated or just in a place where this can be excusable in the future. An apology with a private conversation is a hell of a place to start. I can't understand what made you come to this?

    I agree here.

Matt Quenette, this was 100% uncalled for and unprofessional. Chad and Nelly work their butts off to plan these events but there are going to be problems. Shit happens and you can't control everything little thing. And saying that this event is going to ruin Prairie's reputation is a huge stretch...I think they have proven themselves and will have no trouble selling their beer here. I'll probably stay away from the Moth from now on and give my dollars to a place more deserving until an apology is made for blasting them in public before you had all the facts. I know Chad and Nelly pretty well and they would never knowingly deceive people just for money. They do this to spread knowledge of craft beer to the local people of Dallas and they're passionate about it. Also saying they were all happy about picking up some atrial that was for personal use and wouldn't have been legal to sell to the public at the event is ridiculous. But I know for a fact The Moth has sold beer that wasn't legal to sell in TX at the time so I guess you have no trouble breaking the law.

Another vote of confidence for Chad here. I don't see any evidence that there was any malicious intent or "bait and switching" - just some unforeseen issues. He has given completely reasonable explanations for every issue brought up and has apologized profusely for each as well. Were there ways to mitigate the issues - possibly and I'm sure if there are any lessons to be learned they will be taken to heart and will be corrected before the next event. It's completely unreasonable to expect every single aspect of an event to go 100% perfect and then publicly bash someone without having all the info and trying to make them look bad for not breaking the law (in regards to bomb! and atrial).

Chad - I had a great time at both Brewvolution and BTBF and will continue attending these events because I (and every sane person) understand that you and your team work hard to produce quality events. A missing beer here or there does not discredit everything else you do for the craft beer scene or make these events any less fun. Keep up the great work.

Wow...this thread has taken an odd turn.

It is beer. You missed two beers. Who the eff cares? Go buy a bottle of the Bomb when it comes out if it is that important to you. If you could not realize how many other great beers were on tap that it irritates you that much that somehow two beers did not make it, then you have problems.

He never once claimed that the beer list is 100% accurate and said things would likely change. I was disappointed Bomb was not there but I also realize that it is just beer and it will be released in TX soon enough.

And from the sounds of it, you have already had the Jester King beer. Why are you that upset about not having one more sample of it at some event? It's not like you have yet to have it?

I get being a little irked if you feel the VIP admission price wasn't worth it because some beers were missing, but I don't get going on a crazy tirade about it.

Chad (and quite a few other people involved that ended up in missing/incorrect beers) is human and had a few mistakes among a lot of things done right. No reason to try to defame him and blast him on a public forum for a few minor issues.

I'm sorry if he took a leak in your Wheaties.

I rarely say anything on BA about keyboard rage......but this is a bit over board..just saying.

Chad, you keep doing Fests and we'll support them. I get the hoops you guys have to jump through to get beer and how much effort ya'll put into the whole shabang. Sh*t happens, I still had a great time there.

I am always amazed at the balls people have while writing in an online forum. It sounds like you have other issues and you are going to take this out on a great person like Chad. The amount of work that chad and nellie put into these fests while also working day jobs impresses me beyond belief.

Don't let one idiot get to you chad the rest of Dallas will continue to support you and your events.

Talking face to face does wonders. Texting, emailing and website forum posts don't solve everything. You can't see a person's face to see their reactions and emotions when hiding behind a monitor or celll phone.

Support the movement and drink craft beer! Cheers!

This scenario raises a question: how does JK give away Cantillon (which is not approved for sale in TX) at their pay-to-enter events? Since Jeff was a lawyer IIRC, he would likely be the first to recognize the illegality of something that could hurt his business. Just wondering how they can do this, but a festival like Brewvolution could not w/ Atrial.

I'd bet there's a lot of grey area that some people just don't feel like messing with. I feel Jester King likes to play in the grey areas because they're looking for a fight to change. All my opinion... completely useless.

It would not be legal to do it. Notice how it was listed as a mystery beer...nothing more. If it could be legally given away, they would have listed the name. They were playing the "there is no proof what that was as it could have been one of theirs" card

Maybe things changed after this blog post but at least originally they said, " As far as how Zwanze Day 2013 will work at Jester King, due to the legal and regulatory constraints we face in Texas, samples of Zwanze 2013 will be 100% free. However, because we are only receiving a single 30 liter keg, we will have to limit the number of free samples we can share."

They can give it away for free but not charge. They were charging for the mystery one.
