    Hey all,

Live in Pittsburgh...was lucky enough to obtain a case of Founders Backwoods Bastard.

Open it up to find a lot of Backwoods Bastard...and a 4 pack of Centennial IPA?

Now I do like me some Centennial IPA...but I can get that most anyplace. Its a little irritating to pay what I did, then get shorted a 4-pack.

I gave Founders a call, sent an email/followup...and no response.

Anyone else ever seen this, or dealt with Founders before on something like this?

Was the case (top & bottom) still sealed with the glue used when the case is packaged at the brewery?

If yes, it should be a FBC issue.

If no, it should be an issue with the place you bought the case.

My backwoods cases have all been filled with backwoods. I just double checked.

If you can't get a response from Founders, go back to the distributor.

I have had good luck using Facebook as the point of contact - recently had some questions for Troeg's that I initiated thru their Facebook page (not a public comment) that ended up as an e-mail conversation. It's worth a try and also worth going back to the store and asking if there is anything they can do. I can't imagine that they re-pack cases, which could lead to a mix up, unless they absolutely had to (such as case packer being out of order and four packs being hand packed post-production).

It sounds like someone snaked some Backwoods Bastard from your case. Very doubtful that this was an accidental switch-up in the bottling line.

yea glue is not much of a thing to redo. They should put sealing tape on those IMHO.

Doesn't hurt to conact Founders - they'll probably ask you where you bought the case. Best way, if email doesn't work, is to call them or reach out via Social Media. Use Faebook. If it's out there and people see it and see that they've failed to react, it's a black eye for their customer service and that's not something they want.

Yep. I was able to order a case of Founders KBS and I live in MA so usually its a 2 bottle limit. I brought it home and when I opened it, Ashton Kutcher jumped out and told me I've been punk'd! I knew it was too good to be true.

I stopped buying Founders as they are unresponsive to my emails about issues I had with their beer. Long story short the beer inside the case was much older than the packed on date on the case. I guess they do not care how old the beer is as long as we know the day the old beer was packed into the case.

I moved on and have not looked back. I will drink their beer when offered one but will not be buying it anymore

    Enjoy

This is very odd, considering Centennial IPA is packaged in six packs. They only way I see this happening at the brewery is that they were packing 4 packs of Backwoods before or after packaging Centennial and there were a few bottles of Centennial left on the bottling line that got mixed in.

Hmmm. Ok, well I'm not on Facebook so maybe I'll get the fiance to throw something up on the social media interwebs.

I'm not sure it is the distributor - they're friends of mine and family owned so if it ended up being them thats pretty douchey, I don't want to try to call them out on it unless I get some sort of a response from Founders. They agreed to hold the case for me until I got back from vacation anyway.

For what its worth, the Centennial bottles were in pairs, in seperate 4 packs within the case (2 and 2) on opposite ends of the case. No bottling date on the Centennial either (not sure if thats status quo or not).

    Thanks all.

The fact that you scored (nearly) a case of Backwoods Bastard keeps me from feeling the least bit sorry for you.

Welcome to Pennsylvania, where you can either shell out $8+ for single bottles of limited releases , or $$$ for a full case...with no inbetweens.

So someone pulled a few bottles out of the 4 packs...Interesting! what if you get a hold of someone at the brewery and they are like "surprise! You win!" MEH It could happen....I was secretly hoping you said there was a mouse in the bottle.

Still, you purchased it from the distributor. More than once I've gone back to a distributor to rectify a situation with product purchased from them. They'll take care of you (or should, at least).

This doesn't have to be thievery on anyone's part. Recently in a thread in another forum about Ithaca Beer's Box of Hops there were two quality control issues. Neither person received all the beers that were supposed to be in the Box of Hops. It does happen. Let the company know and if they lose you as a customer then that is their fault for not having the common courtesy to respond.

I'm just kidding, of course. That's cool that you can find so much where you are. Last year it was pretty easy to get here in Northern KY. In fact, I still have a few bottles left. This year, I had it on draft once, but didn't score a single bottle. :slight_frown:
