Hey fellow BAs - this is my first post, but I'm a long-time lurker.

So I have the opportunity to pick up both some 2011 BCBS and BCBCS soon. I'm considering using it as an opportunity to trade for some beers that I normally couldn't get. Could anyone give me an idea of the caliber of beers for which I might be able to trade? I'm not exactly sure how rare/treasured these beers have become. I'm in NY (Long Island).

Hope this isn't frowned upon (feel free to slap me if it is) - just trying to share the beer love and get something tasty in return. Thanks

Depends....what are you ideally looking for?

I don't think this really works in a reverse look-up sorta way, so you may need to provide a little more insight into what you're attempting to acquire.

Some other things of interest off the top of my head that would be in the same ball park as BCBS and BCBCS:

KBS, Dark Lord, Hunahpu's (probably would have to combine the two, but doable), Bourbon Barrel Plead the 5th (2011), Kuhnhenn BA 4th Dementia, BBBW, Imperial Stout Trooper (probably, but not as familiar with this one), Abyss.

If any of those interest you, you should be able to work something out fairly easily.

    Good luck, and enjoy trading!

In general, other large distribution area beers but limited supply beers like Founders 750s, KBS, etc are the equivalent. Then there limited distribution beers with better local access like Heady Topper, Beatification, Alpine IPA's, Zombie Dust, etc that can be possible.

I would say that BCBS beers are pretty desirable in the trade market and depending on how many you have, you may find someone willing to trade you a rarer beer like a Black Tuesday or Darkness if you have multiple bottles to trade

Totally forgot that one in my list, but that should also be doable, with the one caveat being that I think MN gets Goose Island distro, so there may be a venn diagram issue.

I apprecaite the direction and advice. I'm also not totally familiar with some of those beers, so it gives me some research to do. In response to KnifeStylesand before I saw the other posts, I had already typed a response. The questions have been semi-answered, but I'll post what I was going to say below:

"Oh boy - hard to answer that. I was sort of hoping to leave it open ended, just to get an idea if it's worth the trade (I'd very much like to drink these, too), but I understand if a bit more info is needed. I'm totally new to trading, so really wanted some hand-holding here. I've been more focused on drinking and enjoying the stuff, so I'm not totally in tune with all the options out there and the trading market.

Say, would either of the be worth PtY, Westy 12, CBS (fingers crossed haha), KBS or other beers in that range? Or do I need to take (multiple) steps down? If you look at your stash/local options, what would some of YOU trade for either of these?
So obviously the BCBCS will be worth more, but I'm more likely to have a spare bottle of the BCBS that I'm willing to trade.

Then I guess there is the issue of differences in bottle sizes, but I'll figure that out later.

In the end, I don't want to embarrass myself or insult others with a ridiculous trade offer, but I'd also rather not screw myself because I don't know any better (though I think I'll know someone is messing with the noob when they offer a 30-pack of coors light). "

Draft-only, no growlers (DONG) - not happening :slight_frown:

Probably doable, but might take a little more on your part to sweeten the deal

Again, probably doable, but probably would need to add more. For example, above I said you might be able to trade for a Hunahpu's. Last year I traded a Hunahpu's straight up for a CBS.

Definitely doable. Seen lots of KBS for BCBS and vice-versa this year.

Don't worry about people jumping on your offer. It happens, but it's not the end of the world.

    you're thinking of elder.

younger used to be available in growlers but some dude buying 20 of them a few years ago (beddachedda?) ruined it for everyone. (edit: also some ebayers, it selling out in a day, etc)

They used to do growler fills, but to the best of my knowledge it has never been bottled.

Are you mistaking it for PtE?

Have you had any bcbcs? It is unbelievably good. Drink one before you decide to part with any. You will thank me.

You may as well chalk it up to having three, unless I've overestimated the amount I can get by about 17 bottles and only have three left for myself, and instead intend to offer you a Moloko, and then toss up a thread when I cuss at you for not wanting a Moloko in hopes of confirming that I'm not in the wrong. #threadoftheyear
