I might be picking it up soon. Im not the biggest mint fan so I was crurious as to how pronounced the mint was.

I wanted to love this beer, as I like most things from that line up, but the mint was a bit much for my liking. Very noticeable on the nose, very pronounced flavor of mint from sip to swallow, and continued on to the exhale. Total mint overload for me.

    Get out of my head.

This is actually a Shipyard beer that I'll try. I can't see the diacetyl overpowering the mint no matter how hard they try/how quickly they rush the beer out of the brewery.

They should make a buttered rum beer for the holidays.

That's an idea. They could just call it "Rum Beer". F***ing ringwood.

I had it at the Maine brew fest and it was kind of like toothpaste. More mint than anything else, I don't recall enjoying it that much.

I really wanted it to taste like girl scout cookies... Took one sip and spit it out. Couldnt get the taste out of my mouth fast enough. So much anise/black liquorish that it dominates the flavor profile in the worst of ways.

I tried it at the Maine beerfest too. Tasted awful, but maybe that was because I had just tasted their newest butter bomb...Double Thumper. If 1X the butter was good, 2X must have seemed like a great idea.

What has Shipyard ever produced that makes people want to try a new beer of theirs?

That's actually a good point. It makes a decent dough and you can bake the diacetyl right out of it.

Same could be said for alot of BA geek-approved breweries in New England- though in Shipyard' s case I know they sell a shit-ton of beer, especially the Pumpkinhead.

On your logic, White Birch would've been defunct years ago....but they are still going strong (presumably).

This is the stuff I warned you about...gag-inducing, cloying licorice flavor. No mint. I put the generously poured tasting cup back on the table and slunk away... In my opinion this was not a good beer. It wasn't a good beverage. OK...it wasn't good. I don't mean to pig-pile on Shipyard, but I really can't understand why a brewery would put something like this out there with their name on it.

It makes you wonder if anyone tastes the beer before releasing it.......

I think they'd have to chase a speeding forklift to get hold of a bottle inside the brewery.

I heard somewhere that Pugsley was moving back to England to run/open more breweries there - I don't know that it's happening but if it does happen I'd be interested in seeing if they deviate from the Ringwood only thing.

The toothpaste comment was spot on. I was gonna say it tastes like licorice flavored mouthwash but toothpaste works just as well. Eh if I didnt pay 10 bucks for it I might have drain poured it. I wanted to give it a fair chance but yeah and it was a disapointment to say the least.
